The Dual Sport Class is designed for newbies and Old guys like us.
Enter the DS class and have fun. Who knows you might get a trophy.
They will put you in the back so you don't get run over, and you will be riding with like equipped folks just as green as you.
Been there done that and willing to do it again, it is a blast!!!

I don't know if I could handle the enduro, but do you guys know if the dual sport events (such as http://www.ride-mci.com/sites/default/files/2014_MCI_DualSport.pdf) would be do-able on a Yami WR250x with street tires? I feel like I could hang with most large adventure bikes, and gravel/dirt fire roads are no problem. But I've never taken it on any knarly single track.

You will need Knobbies for most of the AMA dual sport rides. Some have big bike courses, but you should still run at least a 50/50 tire. Riding any dirt is much more fun and easier with traction...

You would be fine if it were dirt or gravel, but it's sand. There's normal sand, rutted sand, wet sand and sugar sand.

And don't forget, by the end of the day you'll probably find some "fucking sand!" Sand sucks.

Ah, I see. I didn't consider sand, but I guess I should have for south central Jersey...

Maybe a set of Shinko 17" knobbies would do the trick. I'm trying to get my buddy on his KLR650 to join me.

Yeah I ditched the WR for something sexier, now I just need to get out and ride it.
I'll be there for the DS for sure, let's group up there and shake the winter cobwebs!

I finally found Municipal Road while taking the long way home from work on Monday. It got a bit deeper than I expected (up over my feet) and the rear tire was spinning pretty good, but I made it through.

Anyone getting a group ride together? I would like to check out some of the dirt roads in the area... I ride a tiger 1050, but have years of offroad and mx experience

Anyone know if the little dirt park still exists between Coopersburg Park and Tumblebrook Gulf Course. It had two main parts, a dirt jump and hill climb area built into the forest beneath the rail road tracks, and an oval with whoops. These were relatively small. Grew up just over the county line in Springfield and used to ride bicycles back there in the late 80s and early 90s. There were plenty of days when quads and dirtbikes on those trails too (I guess they accessed from the rail road tracks, we just pedaled from the park's hiking trail). All outside of legal, I'm sure. Just curious if it is still there.
