My buddy and die-hard dirtbike Joe rallied the troops again this year, and since flying solo,,, decided to make it a bike thang. So Him on his R1 and my navigator and I on the R1200 met up at a nooby's house, who had recently got his learners :clap (and pops permission) to take his recently acquired KLR (Donated to the young up and comer for a work trade agreement by yours truely) on his first road trip. We then rendezvous with the last but not least member of the group on his 1098 duc. We all would end up with 160-220 miles round trip, since we all dont live right up the street from each other. The weather was agreeable, the roads were nice, and saturday am traffic... non existant. Hit a mcds, (and the duc and R1 stopped for gas), giving me and the new advrider time to laugh at them. (glad i wasnt on my 1198, or i would have stopped 25 miles before that or push!):D Once at the track we caught up with a couple other work buds who only had the choice of car... and began the festivities of enjoying some good MX racing. I wont spoil for those who DVR'd and havent watched... but It was ALL GOOD>

From this vantage point...a pretty good site of the track. You need to be part goat walking around this joint. My buddy told me at least the last time he was humping it up and down hills...he was draggin dinner home. Seems to me i was relating as I had helped him drag that tenderloin a mountain or two. At least here i had a beer :freaky

More of the track, starting grid on the left. We would end up on the hillside across from the red n blue tents, to see the bikes negotiate turn one out of the gates, and hit the first good jump

first jump... the jump was ok... the camera guy with the droid camera phone, thats another story. You know those action shots where you take the pix 1-2 seconds before it happens...in hopes that you captured as it happens... well, bad timing on this one.

The last visit, we watched from under the big trees to left of this big hill riders going up, that sees a lot of action and the track, but this year, we wanted to see from a different view.

Ahhh the imfamous fan! Last time i went the air was stagnant, the Gnats were abundant, it was just plain miserable. Back when i owned the green KLr and was tent camping at vintage days at mid ohio with 2armor...I was watchn my bro and envious of the "crapcarryingcapacity" of his 1150GS. IE, i pulled out a cushion...he, a chair. My 2 man tent, his 4 man tent. everything was a major one-up...and i was like where the F#*k did the lantern come from. You got a cooler too? magazines? you had room for XY and Z. Clearly I was learning but when i was hot...and saw him come out of his tent for a friggin FAN!!! sumbeotch!! So...I did get me a fan... and a GS.. and well.. Lets just say when mamma's cool...shes happy. Never did hear the end from the shitgivers, (with the sweat running down their faces, the ones who own the helmets locked to the GS, backpacks, shoes and other non essentials...yup...locked in the trunks on the GS)... but we "kept our cool" :jkam Ahhh another lovely day at Budds creek. :clap:lol3
PS...I think i heard 3 days continuous run on 8 D's. Not sure about that, but i ran this one for 6 hours no issues.

:clap Budds Creek rocks! Nice KTM 300XC country.. Nice pictures too, looks like the track was in good condition (no dust).

:lol3 As soon as I saw that last picture I had to laugh as I thought about that vintage days trip, then I saw you mentioned it. GOTTA HAVE MY FAN (white noise). Just bought a smaller 2 "D" cell version by the same O2 COOL mfg. Easier to pack and still good flow/noise.

I was going to sell...but you know the deal... hard to sell and get anything out of it and u dont want to give it away. I took it out of my signature list a while back...wondered when youd notice. Well, since you sold yours to "the dad"... I gave mine to "the son" (Kid in blue shirt on pix with M doin the double flip... Larry directly behind her, and david to her right, duc-hat). Good kid, JROTC... wanted it pretty bad. I have him cutting some trees and doin the lawn care for the summer and any other odds and end jobs. I feel better about getting him started instead of trying to sell it to people expecting me to give it away (so y not give it away:D) and he's more than happy to work for it (all his suggestion) so thats what i did. I dont miss it............ much :rofl So mine is keeping yours company now... fitting. As far as reminding you of someone else :gerg... I havent sold any bikes... or guns... and in fact, are buying (:pain) some of his.

Thats cool! Nice you could do that for him. I bet he's on cloud nine riding with his dad. :wingsNow get them on here to read and study up. Lots of KLR'ers here with some awesome tips on setup etc.
