This sucks!!! My riding partner north for the D2D has abandoned ship at the last minute. I'm still heading up......albeit......solo. Leaving B.C. on the 12th or 13th and heading up the Cassiar, to Whitehorse, looping around TOK, Palmer, Fairbanks, back to TOK, and then over the TOW to D2D. Tent/sleeping bag, and the odd night in a motel to clean up. Was originally planning to pull the haul road to Deadhorse prior to D2D, but not in the mood to do it solo, hence the revised plan. If there is anyone out there looking for riding company along the way, and moving the same direction at the same time, let me know. Otherwise, look for a bright yellow (there's a novel colour) '08 GSA R1200 pounding off the miles north. See you up at the Dawson City rendezvous.........:rofl

If you do not find a partner before you hit Fairbanks, then you may have some luck linking up with someone at the dorms at UAF. At least in the past many riders stayed there and some were solo looking for a partner.

Yep, riders have just started dribbling into the dorms over the past couple days, so there's a chance you might be able to hook up with someone there.

Shawn, In the dorm business we avoid the term "hook-up". While there may be a bunch of hooking-up going on in the dorms we don't advertise it to the riders. Maybe you should add hook-up services to AdvCycle Works menu.

I don't think there's a service code for that in the Dept. of Commerce business license listing.

There were a few girls plying the trade in the dorms. Difficult to keep quiet. And, no I did not.

I am off from the 18th to the 23rd. I am looking at taking the long way to get to Tok to start the festivities on the 20th. That warrants a ride through Denali, or through Fairbanks. let me know if you are going to be in the anchorage area on the 18th.

Oh this is shaping up nicely. I'll ping you, "Waynem" and "Alaskan Mudder". Sounds like something is going to work out.
Thanks for the input everyone. See you on the road.

Yup, and we will be staying on campus as well when you get there.

Sorry, but we put the ladies put of business (I think), but they did get a high grade in their Small Business Management Course.

Don't let going alone change your plans.......my riding partner had to bail 2 weeks before my trip last year. I went alone and had an amazing adventure. Didn't alter my plans, even fought the Dalton in the rain all in one day!!!!! I was actually glad I did it by myself because with as many pictures as I took I probably would have driven a riding partner crazy!!

I'm in the same boat, last minute cancellation and I'm running solo now. I've coordinated with a few inmates, so there may be a few of us, but my plans are to leave Calgary on the 15th and make my way up through:

Jasper, Laird River, Whitehorse, Chicken, TOW, Dawson, then up to Inuvik after D2D.

Shatford - If you want to meet up in Whitehorse I'll be there on the 18, leaving on the 19th. If those dates work for you and you want to ride TOW loop, just PM me.

Thanks everyone for the input. See you on the road. Heading up tomorrow. Heard they've got portions of the Alaska hwy open for one lane traffic now. If the rain eases up a bit, should be clear sailing by the end of the week.
