sounds like fun Rod.
I ordered my CO map and the book too a few months ago and finally found some free time to peruse them properly and post up about it. FANTASTIC is all I can say about these two items. Glad I bought the accompanying book, too, as I wondered if they would cover the exact same material... they do not... which is what I was hoping for. That book just has to be the most detailed riding book of all time.. well done. The map is fantastic. Can't wait to get to CO this July with my brother. Gonna be EPIC.
2nd editions of ID, MT, WY plus
3rd editions of UT
i spent the last 3 months adding dirt roads to ID, MT, WY
plus expanded UT and we added a mobil tour guide.
all maps now have hot springs listed!
awesome. yeah our map and steve's book compliment each other very well.
i reference both all the time.
Tony Huegel has proven himself time and time again that he has the knowlege of the backcountry and the knack for knowing just where adventure type riders want to be and should go, out west.
Just thought I'd mention.
Before I put an order in - just wanted to find out if you have a Dual Sport / DirtRoads edition for the state of WA?
I put that up fast late last night when i got the word, but have time to give credit when credit is due.
Tony Huegel http://www.backcountrybyways.com/ was the key instrumental person in producing the ID plus also helped out with UT. He is an ID guru!
Tim Bernard & company http://www.happy-trail.com/ also helped out greatly with ID. They are ID ADV touring gurus.
Cole Boehler http://motorcyclingmontana.com/ was instrumental with the MT map. We sell now his book too http://www.butlermaps.com/Motorcycle-Road-Maps/42/Montana-Map-%26-Motorcycling-Montana-Book
Awesome book & highly recommended package for anyone traveling to MT.
i'd also like to thank everyone who helped me identify remote gas stations for the maps.
thnx Bill Eakins
only the WABDR at this point, no complete WA state map yet. it's planned.
May of 2010 our 1st map, Colorado, was released.
It's been a long & awesome ride since the 1st one...
ALOT has happened in less than 2 yrs time.
Thanks everyone for believing in & supporting us
Thanks Bill for the other links and for the info - incoming order
Yeah, I have two of the Colorado maps (one always stays on the DR), and the book. So good I just ordered the version 2 of the Idaho, Wyoming and Montana maps for my upcoming trip to Idaho. Great job!
I posted here, and contacted Butler Maps regarding a failed order a couple of weeks ago. Turns out it must have been a USPS error. Once acknowledged, Court and staff at Butler were very accommodating in ensuring my satisfaction. I received my order today, plus a 'sorry 'bout that' extra map today. I'm very impressed! Both with the maps and their service. I'll order more of their products and encourage those of you who travel to take a good look at their maps. Best motorcycle specific maps I've ever seen. Thanks, Court. Ed in Michigan
+1 nice to hear great customer service and that you are a satisfied customer too!
your welcome & enjoy.
just got my new ID, WY, MT & UT maps in the mail today myself.
very pleased how they came out. i spent 3 months working on adding dirt layers & hot springs to those maps.
also got cole beohler's new MT book too. man this thing is packed w/ amazing MT road info. it's a fat book and spiral bound which is sweet.
can't wait to get back up that way again.
glad we got that all worked out for you ed.
sorry about the glitch. enjoy the maps
I have the master map set and these really are awesome for those of us who are exploring that part of the world. Good and durable too.
I would really like to get the books to help with planning and keep for reference along the way. If they were in an electronic format which could be downloaded onto a tablet or laptop for easy reference while on the road, I'd be all over that. Not sure if that is in the works but I put if forward as a suggestion.
I just found this thread, read the first page, the last page and went to Butler website. Apologies in advance if this question is answered already between the first and last page.
I am interested in an Idaho map that shows dirt roads, forest roads etc... for dual sport riding. In post 499 on this page, Eakins says there is a new "dirt layer" in the Idaho map. Is this version 3 of the map or version two? How do I refer to it when ordering.
