    G'day guys,

I'm just looking for a bit of information for my dad who's travelling UK/Europe at the moment. He's got a Honda shadow here (Aus) however wishes to grab something in the UK to travel through UK and Europe for a few months - leave it there and go back next year and do more. Having difficulty with registration (not a citizen/no fixed address) and also insurance as he'd like it insured plus 3rd party if possible.

Any info on a way too own a machine there as a non resident and also insurance options would be greatly appreciated!

I'll reply to your first post with my first post. :)

    Basically, it can't be done.

To have a roadworthy legal vehicle in the UK it needs to be registered to a keeper on the V5 (vehicle reg docs) the keeper has to have a UK address where they are resident.

Insurance is 3rd party minimum by law, comprehsive cover is your choice and it is the vehicle insured with drivers/riders named on the policy. However, you won't find standard insurance policy that will cover non UK resident with no fixed risk address. Vehicle hire is the only way.

He has landed in Ireland already.
Here he is having dinner with Rockydog and myself in Kinsale.
    Bike shopping tomorrow.

As of this morning, he is the proud owner of a beautiful 2007 Honda Transalp.
