Out for a little ride last night on the Project TLR200. Coming home I noticed what I would describe as a buzzing in the transmission when down shifting through gears 3-2-1. Almost like the when being down shifted the shift fork was very lightly rubbing on a spinning gear. Anyone experience this before? Could it be the clutch is not disengaging fully? Shifts with no worries up through all 6 other gears and down from 6-3 with no problems.

I'd keep that ebay link to the Lifan engine handy - you know, just in case.

    Maybe change your oil?

Take up some slack in the clutch cable?

Maybe it's your chain making noise?

    Otherwise, dunno.

Did this happen after you changed the sprocket?

Yes, I've changed the oil. No detectable slivers of metal. It did start after changing the front sprocket but the "buzz" is felt only when down shifting into 3-2-1. I've played with the slack in the clutch cable, no difference.

The bike runs great, but I'm beginning to get a sick feeling in my stomach that the tranny might be starting to self destruct.

The gearbox on the TLR is pretty much bulletproof. Have a careful look at how the gearbox sprocket is mounted, and you will most likely find its been rubbing on the cases.

Roger that, check the simple things first. I'll pull the new sprocket off and see what happens.
