New guy to the ADV forum, so I'm posting to the regional forum. I'm getting my motorcycle endorsement in a few weeks, so I'll be venturing out soon. I've been a dirt bike rider all my life, the road almost never. I'd be interested in any forest service road rides this summer, anything with very little traffic.

I'm planning on trying two up riding with my wife. I tried teaching her and she wasn't too interested. When I mentioned getting a bike for both of us, she was all in. Here's the new beast, I think the photobomber in the bushes approves!

We're close to Black Forest, a little west of there. My first ride will be up Mt. Herman, once it warms up.

Always liked that area. Wish I could live there instead of the Denver suburbs.

Wife and I are considering going out for a ride Saturday. Probably a Zoka's run.

No ride report but the weather was awesome! Very little sand on the roads. Just a bit at the south end of 126 near Deckers. Stopped at Zoka's, had an interesting conversation with the owner, who just got back from Nepal. Rode 97 along the Platte river past the confluence back to Deckers. Was a little surpised by the low river levels, perhaps the run-off hasn't really started?

    Anyway a nice ride.

Was only almost killed once by a cager who thought it was funny to pull in front of me and slam on the brakes as I was passing him and another truck in the 4 lane going up ute pass. :hair

    Par for the course. :bluduh

I go down through there pretty regularly. The water level was higher a week or two ago.

Did you make it up to Mt Herman? I've always liked that ride...making a loop out of it, up Mt Herman Rd, over to Rampart Range Rd and head south to Manitou Springs, etc. Nice lookin' bike by the way!

Thanks Doug! The ride is delayed by bike prep. I'm up to my eyeballs in bike parts right now. I'm getting the WR450 ready for selling it, and I have a pile of parts for the KTM. Hopefully soon, but it could be few weeks out. My wife and I are headed to Rocky Mtn NP the end of May, and I have to have it ready a few weeks before. I have a busy 2 weeks ahead of me!

Sorry for short notice. Just caught my radar:

CMTRA Trail Work Day - Lower Cap'n Jacks Trail Head
(on Gold Camp Rd near tunnel #1)
Saturday June 10 9 am to 1 pm

    Main tasks
    - New restrictors at trail head
    - Build 4 retainer walls on the trail (very close to trail head)
    - Some other miscellaneous tasks
    Come in work clothes
    Bring water and snacks
(Trail not open to dirt bikes until later July, so dirt bike not needed)
    Lunch will be provided
Please RSVP to Jeff Slavens, jeff@slavensracing.com

Guys: We REALLY need your help with this. Jacks will open July 22nd after being closed for 3 years. We need to show the Forest Service we are serious about taking care of this trail. Please become a trail ambassador and help us with this trail. No BS excuses, just do it.
    Hope to see you there.

    Happy trails,

First, I would like to say, If you guys are meeting up on Wed nights, I'd like to join in...
If not, would anybody like to start up again?

Second, just wanted to let you guys know of a great device... A bicycle rack to go on your moto. I usually just use it to go from my house to a local (or not so local) trail. But this weekend, I rode my KLR out to Tincup, via Cumberland Pass, and took my mountain bike with me. It was an awesome ride of itself, and my mountain bike made it without harm. Actually, it performed quite well despite the rough road up the pass.

...HAHAHAAAAAaaaaa looking at the pic, I just noticed that I lost my license plate!!!

I'm not usually one to push a product, but this one is awesome!
    In case anyone's interested...

Hey dudes. I'm working to locate a wr250r in the area. If you know anyone who may be looking to sell now or at the end of this season send them my way. Thanks, Dan
