Hiya, Dave. I have been on here a while but mainly as a lurker, I typically dont chime in unless I has something pertinent to add to a discussion but I am always watching. Always.

And I can never sound as smart as Danny, so there is that.

Actually I am not sure I get the CADS thing.... So it is like fire-road riding? Light trails? I'd be terrified to take some of the bikes I see around here on any tight single track, they look pretty big (and heavy).

"Light trails" he says. You ought to slap a tag on and head over to the 2017.5 Trans FL thread. (And this coming from someone who took the Adventure route!)

There is a ride on Sunday in Ocala, for small plated bikes.

Well "light" as opposed to an enduro. It would be pretty challenging to get some up these rigs up and down perry mountain. I cant plate my bike, didnt register it, besides it is a 2 stroke, about 45 miles and I am dry on the current tank.

the KTM 690/Husky 701 look pretty sweet but I think I'd miss a proper trail bike as soon as things got gnarly. A 220 lbs 2 stroke is really nice when things get rough.

My 701 is not bad when it get's sandy, muddy, or roots. I will be testing it out on rocks at the end of May in Utah. I would hate to ride the 701 at the lease in the old section, it does not turn as tight/nible as a 220 pound 2 stroke.

Wish your bike could be registered, 45 miles would be just fine. We are always near the trucks for fuel

Okay, now I have options. There's a trial at Croom Sunday. I'll decide tomorrow afternoon. Which reminds me, I better get some JB Weld on that clutch cover just in case.

Regarding the ONF ride this Sunday. I'm pre-riding it tomorrow on a waverunner via the Oklawaha River, Bear Creek, and Salt Springs Run. Launching at the Damn Rodman Dam boat ramp. If I don't show up by 9am at Salt Springs parking lot on Sunday, please notify the marine patrol. Emailing Beefcake my GPX water route just in case. Am kidding - kind of. Those gators are really big from the view of a waverunner seat!

Who am I kidding.... '18 KTM/Huskies 2 smokes are going EFI. That will be next purchase, a '19 Husky TE 250. Give them a year to fix the EFI then game on. Its plate-able so I can pretend its a dual sport and hang out with all the cool people.

Ok, so I had a brain cramp, My bike is registered as an OHV, i have the green sticker, I just can plate it for the street. I'd like to go on Sunday but I promised new club members to inspect there bikes for lease use Sunday morning......

    grr......

Ocala OHV trails are a blast to ride (as long as a quad isn't coming the other way around one of the 10,000 tight blind corners), but the OHV trails are just a fraction of the riding in ONF.
Hear you loud & clear on the fuelie 2 strokes from Austria. May have to trade off my 300, if they do a 300 fuelie.

I just ride the bike loop in Ocala. If I am going to be hit head on at least it will be by a bike.

You guys should check out Apalachicola National Forest. Last I checked it has over 120 miles of trails and the quads tend to stay away. I might try to head over there next weekend. Its a haul there but its much better than ONF, barely any sand or quads.

What is wrong with sand? Isn't that what we have in Florida.
