Does anyone here have an XR650R?

I have the FCRMX39 on my DR650 along with aftermarket exhaust and suspension, and wonder how it would feel compared to the XRR. I think my biggest complaint about the DR is the weight, I have a small frame at 5'8" and 140 lbs. I ride it hard off road and it just feels too heavy.

The XRR seems it would fit my desire for more power, lighter, and more off-road capability. Has anyone ridden both bikes and feel they are different enough to keep both?

I've started browsing Craigslist around the US and have found plenty of XR650R's for $2500-3200 bone stock and $2900-4000 depending on the level of modifications done.

XR is taller, tad bit lighter, little more bling with the alum frame and water cooled. They are still heavy pigs, KSO, but feel like better suspension package and overall dirt worthiness.

@Dr.Z has one with a ton of time.

Ridden my FIL's DR650. The XRR has better suspension and more power (over a stock DR). I understand that if you put an HRC kit (or similar upgrades) on the XRR, the power is equal to some of the bikes that used to run the Baja 1000. My bike is stock with about 9K miles and 220+ hours. Very versatile bike and one of my favorites. I can't see selling it anytime soon.

KSO is a non-issue in my opinion as it is very easy to kick start.

It's just another Mexican place, but the newly taken over La Nopalera just over the Julington Creek bridge has a nice outdoor seating area. Just throwing that idea out there...

Best looking waves today since Irma. If any of my CADS buds want to join me, I'll be paddling out on my SUP around 11:30 at 13th South.

Like Huzband, I don’t follow directions. In!

Also sad to say I won’t be there this week, traveling to even colder parts for work.

I had planned a ride for this weekend for Ocala.. but unfortunately i can not make it nor can other key riders .. its super tough to plan things during December and I'm house shopping as my landlord is selling the house i'm renting.
and its been a lot harder than i had thought in finding a new place at the price i want and with the options i want.
I ll reschedule this for next year.
