It was merely an attempt at humour, albeit a feeble one.

Lucas has a history of innovation but has been much maligned for it's lack of reliability, perceived or real, on British cars and bikes.
Having never owned a British vehicle I can't comment as to whether those issues were real or imagined.

On a completely different note, I just happened to look at my post count and realized that I have reached the Number of the Beast...........666. :D In the thread that got me hooked on ADV Rider no less, cool.

Just cracked the 10,000 mile mark from a 2008 frame-up restoration. Mikuni TM34 flatslide, Clubman rearsets, Tomeselli clipons, original 1969 Dunstall tank, seat and fairing, Avon Roadriders.....fast?.....nahhh. :evil

    Funny that,
Always thought WIPAC invented darkness and flat batteries but Lucas (The Prince of Darkness) took out a patent on the process.
Later CEV (Italian electrics) seemed to copy both:rofl

I'm sure I posted this somewhere on the site Late 80's - 900 Duke. Odd wheels are down to the front magnesium dissolving and the bike being my only form of transport at the time, probably not the best choice of a daily rider and I did walk a lot :D

Its a standard bike with funny handlebars, the front mudguard taken off and a pair of Harley shocks and silencers. How does that make a cafe racer?

That is exactly how it started. Nice looking ride.

I really struggle with that vincent though. I guess if a Vinny is too far gone to fully restore, making a mod like that is ok. But it still doesn't seem right.

Yes it was, then I brought it to the Mods and Rockers show downtown Kansas City.
They all thought it was a cafe racer.
Of course I had a black X on the headlight, that must have fooled them.
But how did I know I should have told them different?
