I hear ya. But the bike was a gift from a lady that had it painted for herself. So, I feel obligated to leave it alone. I did remove the "Faux Manx" stickers, though.
I've heard bad things about the Bug motor Frankensteins, what your first hand opinion? I like the fearing, but prefer the /2 tank, but I can imagine the bigger tank is needed! Never seen a duel disc Earls before.
Bikes like this with VW engines in them are pretty much a period specific build in the late 60's and early 70's mostly for hauling a hack and or if you had a bad /2 motor and wanted a bike with a motor that could be fixed about anywhere on the planet you might have considered a conversion kit.
2 BMW dealers in California would sell you their kit or build one for you. With a sidecar, larger tanks were the norm. In the late 60's you could own a opposed flat 4 cylinder and drive shaft bike and it didn't say Honda on it. This bike? Everything is in the extreme other than the size of the motor. Actually the last supplier of conversion kits just in the last few years quit selling complete kits. These are odd bike's! Not for everyone.
Any more info on the disc front wheel?

The previous owner said he converted it to a Kawasaki 900 brake system, but at 86 or 87 (iirc) years of age he couldn't remember what year model he did the switch with? He bought the bike from Browns BMW in Pomona Ca. in 1975 with the VW conversion already done. Is it a Browns conversion? I don't know as of yet. I haven't looked into Kawasaki 900 history. The anodized gold color on the rotor set up may offer some info, iffin I were to look it up.

A Couple of Oldies
The Ducati has been in my stable since 1986 and I am the second owner. I raced the bike in the S.E. U.S. AMA / CCS Cup, Florida Grand Prix Riders and AHMRA events from 1987 through 1991. She was then brought back to street status and she and I have been seen plying the mountains of North Georgia.
The 1978 Kawasaki KZ 650 B is a low miles project bike I took under my wing. It is now waiting on better weather for a garage paint job.
Looks good England-Kev....Silver is a great color for the GB. Are you running a XL600 jug & piston? And it looks like you shortened the rear fender a bit..and what's the story on your exhaust?
