A short section that is easy to miss south, right after the bridge on 507. Super scenic section of gravel instead of the pavement into the campground & Park.

This covers a lot of familiar ground and combines Ram Falls, Limestone Mountain, Cow Lake and then a pavement run back to Calgary along Hwy 22. It is a long day starting early in Cochrane, but home in time for dinner.

This is a list of Fuel, Food, Camping, Hotels and Tourist spots. Hopefully those riders new to the area or just passing through will find theses useful. I have taken these from my own travels so I can vouch for their accuracy.

    Thank you for sharing Lee!
I now have my summer itinerary.

May all your gates be unlocked, water crossing passable and the campfire smoke always blow the other way......

Loop Around Glacier in a Weekend.

Starts and finishes in Calgary and includes Going to the Sun Road, a cross over the Divide in Montana, and great little detour from Fernie to Elko without touching pavement.

Note: That as of July 15/2015 that Inside North Fork road is closed from Camas Creek in the south to Logging Creek campground in the north. You can use Camas Road and Outside North Fork road west of the river as a go-around.

    The 2015 Loop

This is a week long (but could be done in 4 days easy) counter-clockwise loop starting and finishing in Calgary (and why it is posted here). Pavement and gravel with some prime examples of both. Campgrounds and fuel stops are listed.

Pictures to follow around the middle of August when I get home.

Fantastic Thread! Thanks for posting. My riding vacation plan for early August seems to be falling thru so I am looking for alternative destinations. I have family in Calgary I should visit and your tracks and photos would go a long way to making an Alberta trip a whole lot more interesting. I've saved all your posted tracks and I'll have a good long look at them over the next week or two.

    Thanks again, Wayne

This is for the rider from Washington that was needing some assistance. I had to zip the file since it was very large.

Well Mr. Lycan, you are my new best online friend! I recognize so many of these places, but it's great to have them stitched together in .gpx!

Can't wait to find some time this fall to make a couple day trips before Rally season starts in earnest Mid-October!
With the wife on a DR, sister-in-law and father-in-law on WeeStroms and Brother-almost-in-law on a Tiger800XC, I'm sure I can drag SOMEONE along.

    Fall Loop.JPG Fall Day Loop

This track starts and finishes in Calgary's Southeast since that is where I live. It includes as many nice little green-lanes as I could squeeze into a track that wasn't too convoluted. This one is therefore best done after a few (or more) nice dry days to firm up the dirt sections. It is under 370 kms so for most Adventure bikes this is a one tank loop. There are gas stations along the route in Longview, High River and Bragg Creek for those without the full range.

I'll be out on Saturday taking pictures (and enjoying the ride) along the route and will add them afterwards.

I thought you might like that.

I'm riding this tomorrow starting out at 09:00 from the start / finish point with a couple of others so far. Join us if you have nothing else planned.

    Hi Lee. Great work.

I'm planning a trip in The Rockies next summer. Your posts will really help. I'm thinking of stitching your tracks together to plan a 7-8 days trip in AB / BC. Any advice?

    Francis,

That depends on a lot of factors; What do you ride and what kind of riding do you like to do? Will you be camping or staying in hotels? Why don't you put together a plan that you like, from what you have seen here, and with knowing what you ride and your style, I might be able to help you "fine tune" it. It is hard to go wrong out here for great riding, but there are plenty of opportunities to get in over your head in the back-country.
    IMG_1294.jpg

I will gladly help you out as much as possible!

You have all winter to put a plan together.

just stumbled on this thread -thanks for all the work! I'm in Lethbridge and looking forward to putting on some different tires (perhaps tkc70's) to explore some forestry roads and do some fly fishing. Starting to explore possibilities for 2016!
