    the icing on the cake.

things could be tough in baja
    [IMG]

lots of roads were washed out. this ain't bad since i get to take a pic of it
    [IMG]

there are sections that were muddy, todd lost control and crashed, but got up quickly like a pro football player
    [IMG]

slipping and sliding, me too dropped the bike, i was pinned and thanks to todd for getting me out
    [IMG]

if you have a low fender, better to turn around
    [IMG]

the dark clouds coming in; this is going to be fun
    [IMG]

that's what the chain guard is for, otherwise, i will be jamming mud in my chain
    [IMG]

we were wet and muddy, but eventually we made it to our appointment...lunch at coyote cals
    [IMG]

they were expecting 10 guest, but only 2 PPs showed up that grey afternoon....:cry

    Nice!
I was wondering how you got out of there. Rollergirl and I came down the cliff about 100 yards south of that cave. Then we rode south for miles down the beach till we ran out of beach. Did you get to the cave and then turn around and head south till you could get off the beach?

i know where you went down, we went up on that rutted sandy hill climb.

peter, it was here where we rode down to the beach (3 miles ? south of the cave). at the end of this road, it was pretty steep, though easier riding down.

    hi mark and thanks.

we just met maria for the first time on this ride. she did good, got along very well with everyone and could hang on with slow pokes like me....:lol3

good to hear about the 25th. congrats and pass the word to luanna. have fun in baja.

need to wrap up this 2012 wrap up in baja RR. we will be riding to central cal this weekend. big group @ 30 riders. i'll try to post up the RR here next week.

so, after coyote cal, todd and i rode in the rain that afternoon till dark, and all the way to ensenada.

sorry, camera not made for low light condition and slow moving rider...hehe
    [IMG]

we hit hw1 in santo tomas then went north all pavement towards ensenada and searched for HORSEPOWER RANCH

nothing significant, other than todd's bike stalled at the light and won't start. i think he was just messing with me and pushed the kill switch. pushed his bike to the side of the street while raining and eventually he got it firing up again.

horsepower ranch is off the main drag, several miles north east of ensenada. the dirt road leading to the ranch was getting muddy, and there was no sign. good thing rodrigo ?, noticed our headlights and he came out with his truck and got us, otherwise we would have kept going and who knows where that dirt road will take us.

this place fits our personality as a sportsmen
    [IMG]

again, to their dismay, only 2 showed up when the reservation was made for 10 PPs.

ignore that man, but look at the food. the mexicans as very patriotic by showing their national colors.

    lots of baja racing pics

from ensenada we took the toll higway along the coastline. great view. didn't take anymore pictures, except this one as we cross the border. i let todd and the gsa get in front, so anyone in his way will be decapitated or lose their legs.

i stayed in san diego for one more day where i met my gf. spent the new year eve here.

i had the most delicious food that night, actually after 5 days of eating tacos, any non-mexican food is welcome.

that's what i thought, but the next morning i was longing for more mexican food....me gusto mucho....hahahha.

caramba, i had to take home a to-go....que lastima!

    THAT'S ALL FOLKS.

thank you everyone for reading and hope you enjoyed it.

    Great RR senior Joel!
    What bike is Maria riding?
And it looks like it's been lowered?
Have a friend that would do well w/ a bike like that.
    Thx.

    Joel,

Thanks for the pix. I miss Baja, and especially Mexican food, which they do not do in the Middle East!

    Ride safe, Bob

That concrete-lined stream crossing ... Slick?

But the more important question: The plastic water bottles hanging from that ceiling. Talismans, perhaps? (Def.: anything whose presence exercises a remarkable or powerful influence on human feelings or actions.)

    Hey Joel,
Looks like you guys had a great time!

By the way, I'm pretty sure those hanging water bottles are supposed to keep the flies away.

    Here's a fancy version.

    Hey Joel,

I thought I was doing a pretty good job of following along with the Baja ride report, but can't for the life of me recall reading about where or why the group split and what happened to the others. :ear

I've got to get back to Baja one of these days. :freaky

hi joe. thanks for stopping by.

originally, we had 10, and 8 showed up.

we lost 1 rider on the first day - his bike fell off the truck and sustain a major damaged.

next day, 1 rider sprained his ankle at laguna diablo, then had to be escorted by another rider back to socal. the remaining 5 riders proceeded to san felipe and gonzaga bay.

at the end of the third day, the berg's rear sprocket ran out of teeth. next day, he had to get a ride from another rider back to tecate and get his truck. one rider had to go home.

by the 4th and 5th day, only todd and i were the last men riding.

i felt bad for the others. this ride was in the planning for at least 4 months. really happy with my trusty 2002 ktm 640e. took me to a lot of places and been reliable for a while. only thing i've done lately is replaced the 4 year old odyssey with a lighter shorai.

that bike has been great and economical. just 2 weekends ago, i took it for a 500 mile ride to carrizo - pozo - hi mountain - camino cielo (above santa barbara) with no hiccup. wore out the rear 606 by the time i got home.

tune in, i have the pozo palooza ride report coming up soon.
