after a good lunch, we headed out on a high speed dirt road to rocky gap at red rock canyon. tim lead most of the wayn the first part was really easy, just follow the tire tracks lots of tire spinning with little forward motion as we gained elevation, going uphill started to get rough due to slushy ground, loose dirt and hidden rocks have to walk the bike a few times there are a few times we have to scout the road ahead deeper snow the farther we go up soon it was dark i have done night ride and snow ride but not at the same ride... not much to see and someone has a blown headlight...:huh the mastermind of this ride my crazy partners - tim and lior it took us 5 hours to cover @ 15 miles..... honestly, i had some apprehension as we get deeper in the snow, but with tim and lior, i knew we could do it. both are capable riders; likewise tim is in great physical condition, then lior is a very good mechanic. equipment wise, my xr400 was running flawlessly, we got spot and a satphone. we had plenty of water and food. good to know there's no rain in the forecast. i stayed warm most of the time, but not enough for me to withstand spending the freezing evening temperature if we get stuck. worst case, one or 2 riders could continue to ride and get lior's fully set up 4x4 truck in las vegas and come back for the stranded rider. will i do it again?.........hmmmmm.
