Ya, MadMax is my Dad. I will tell him you said hi. He has been in town for a little while and we got a few little riding trips lined up pretty soon. He is picking up a new Husky 650 Strada right after Christmas, then we will be riding. That bike looks pretty sweet!

I used to work across the street and the Yard House got a lot of my business back in the day. It's nice to see the pics of my daily commute.

rob....glad to see you on the husky ride. yes, we do a lot of rides and you're welcome to join us anytime. next time you see madmax, please pass along my regards.

yh, still a great place, the food never disappointed me. the window tables get a nice view of the harbor. a short walk from the convention center makes it also convenient.

i left my stuff under our table and they went after me so i don't go home empty handed.

my 640 wasn't prepped up and could not ride, but glad i went and join the guys on my xr400 geared 15/50...for a 200 mile loop...yikes.

i got to the meetup place just to find out i left my riding pants and i'm going back home. btw, who the heck carries a spare pants when they go riding?......i could not laugh since big todd saved my day.

it proved that the xr400 is not a bad bike at all. i'm loving this bike more than my 525 exc.

at @ 8:30 am, a big group of bikes hanging out at the chevron gas station in pearlblossom
    [IMG]

joel, your pant's awfully big for you
    [IMG]

great to see ccer and spaniard here on this ride. yeah, it's about time.

a short pavement ride to the trail head
    [IMG]

at this point, i bailed out again. my xr starts sputtering and dies. symptom indicates a fuel starvation. i told jim to go ahead and catch up with the group and i will go back to the truck.

i knew the carb is recently rebuilt, have a new fuel petcock, good fuel line and throttle cable working. what else could cause it. after a few minutes, the bike will fire up again. hmmm, could it be a clogged up vent on the fuel cap. lior mentioned to me that he doesn't like my tank vent because of problems a few weeks ago when we did the vegas ride. i pulled it off and started the bike. wow, bike is alive again....but the guys have been gone for at least 20 minutes. wtp, i have the tracks and i ride a honda...what else could go wrong. off i went and chased the PPs.

eventually, i catch them near lake mirage....wohoooo!

how could i miss that bright red jacket
    [IMG]

this place is new to me and i like it already
    [IMG]

the baja990 is at home in the desert

didn't take a second to find the culprit ........huh

meanwhile, i parked my beautiful bike in the middle of the road so ersin and his fellow lost riders could spot it. nada so we rolled and hopefully find them on helendale rd.

    rich and ben
    [IMG]

in less than 30 minutes, rob had another flat...wtp
    [IMG]

having used up his spare tube, rob had no other choice. here's ben trying to patch it.

i volunteered to ride up ahead to catch the big group at the next rendevous point. gave my spare rear tube to rob before i left since the patch job didn't work.

    waited here and texted ersin
    [IMG]

    and waited!

every year, the socal norton club do their new year's eve ride and meet on lake ave in pasadena

good thing i don't have to work that day and in town (most of my fellow riders went to baja). we'll i love motorcycles, especially the classics. where else to see them but in pasadena.

i got there before 9 am and the streets are already filled with them.

around 10 am, most bikes headed up to newcomb's ranch via angeles crest highway (2). fun twisty road!

the crest was in almost perfect shape except for the sand collecting at the center divider. no traffic except for a white porsche which is faster than most of us.....:lol3

    2013.01.18/19 - pozo frozo ride

well boys and girls great job, we did it, 6 years in a row! based on my last count, there were 27 of us! not a bad turnout, besides we don't want it get too big and having to break up group 2 into A and B...hahaha.

for many years, my trusty 2002 KTM 640E has never disappointed me, always taken me there and got me home. last time i rode it was in may of last year (grand canyon north rim rid). it sat in the garage patiently waiting for another big ride. wasn't really in any rush, but the pozo frozo motivated me to get on it. lots of major maintenance i have to do - overhauled the front forks, checked and repacked the wheel bearings, steering heads and swing arms, put fresh oil, bled the brake lines with magura blood; put new chain and sprockets, new batteries, adjusted the valves, put loctite 243 on many fasteners, re torqued critical bolts and nuts, checked the electriacl wirings and took the carb apart and cleaned.

yeah, countless of hours in the garage. it was fun and at the end....my 640 is ready to rock again!
