You saw the before pictures earlier in the thread... here are the after! I have white sidecovers coming from eBay (the ones from 86) in white with the red sticker background.... Other than that I put the baja designs LED tail light and a mx style UFO fenders all around. That's a XR650R headlight. Acerbis flip down mirrors. Flush mount turn signals and we're on our way to the DMV!!!:thumb

That's the trail out behind work... the "lunch break" trail! :lol3

I've had my 95 since 96 as the third owner. Best mod was suspension, and sorting out the jetting.
Another mod I don't believe was mentioned, if you are stuck with conventional forks, is a fork brace. I never believed this to be a big deal until I installed it. No more flex, and now quicker in the corners. :clap

Do you still have one of those stock mufflers hanging around? What would you part with one to fit my 1996 XR for? Lookin' for an oversize tank as well if you've got one laying around.

    Thanks!

I have CR Hi bend bars with 2 inch Rox bar risers on my 2000 XR600R. I'm 6 feet tall and this is perfect for me. I was able to use the stock cables by rotating the throttle 180 degrees. These risers are a great design and allow you to rotate front to back to get the best position.

That's an awesome part! Do you know if Rox makes a setup for fat bars (bars and clamp both 1.25") or a 7/8" bottom and 1.25" top?

    Great little piggy shots!

I also own a 650R, but there is nothing quite like the simplicity of the XR600R.

Here's my '97, which I bought last April. She runs like a Swiss watch and has the necessary pieces-parts to keep The Man away while riding the slab.

In a perfect world, Honda would still be producing these beasts with an aluminum frame!

I believe they do have the same part for fat bars. I bought mine direct from Rox online.

I *may* be joining y'all's ranks here shortly. I'm tryin to work a trade for a 95 XR600 that needs TLC for a bicycle. Dood's around the corner. Sez the bike was running when he parked it 8mos ago.

So... what's the secret handshake? :D

Its not done, so I can't get too excited. Sounds good tho!

Good luck on your transaction, my man -

But the secret handshake is not all that secret: It's laid out there in plain sight on a bike/platform of proven technology over 20 years old! I always loved the XR600s. Glad to see so many people posting them up here!

    I'm tryin to avoid that!

    So... twist the throttle twice

Say the sauber woerter (magic words auf Deutsch)

Spin around three times in a counter-clockwise direction

    Hope she fires?

She won't understand the Deutsch. Try some きれいな言葉 in Japanese, especially during this Tucson cold spell. She should fire right up. :D

Here my XR currently kinda came to a halt with breaking it down. But should be at the hanger for a few hours today doing more work on it.

I have a 2000 XR600R with an XR's Only tail rack. I wanted better carrying capacity without side bags because I ride a lot of single track. The 1400 Series Pelican Case has the same width on the short side as the rack. The 1200 Series has the same width on the long side. I got one of each from Santa. 1200 for trail rides, and 1400 for longer trips.
The rack has existing mounting holes for the stock tail bag. 1200 Case:
I used three bolts with rubber between the rack and the case and a 1/8" aluminum plate (6" x 8") with lockwashers inside the case. The rubber holds the bolts in place for easy switching of cases and also seals the holes. With the foam packing in place the mounting system is out of the way.

The rack is symmetrical so I flipped it 180 degrees so the case would be towards the back.

For the 1400 case I used the same hardware except for an 8" x 10" aluminum mounting plate. 1400 case:

I also have a Wolfman tail bag that can be strapped on top of the 1400 case. It's almost exactly the same size as the 1400. Can't wait to try them out!

I haven't started my 600R for probably 9 months. I thought that today would be a good day to fire it up. Wrong. It hasn't had any gas in it. I guess that the cork in the petcock dried out because when I put some gas in the tank it leaked.

So, I'm airing out the shop now. Soon I'll go out and check out my petcock.
