Thinking inside the box... Why not build a tank that can go inside a jesse?

Possibly a stupid question but would it be a safe bet to say that this tank won't work with the new 2014 adv 800gs?

G/day Oso,

No, its not the HUBB meeting, which I hope to attend as well, but the Canadian MRT meeting,(Motorrad-Reise-Treffen) for world motorcyclist travellers which began in Germany at Geiboldehausen back in 1997, and organised by a mate Wolfgang who now lives in Edmonton. I last attended the meeting in Germany in 2011, and there were over 600 attendees!
This meeting is the 1st weekend in August in BC,(can't find the campground) but knowing Wolfie and his wife Annie it will be well worth attending.

So I'm keen to buy one of your tanks, but I still want to see it in the flesh. That extra 7 to 8 lts makes the difference for safe touring especially here in Oz. I will be arriving in Alberta around the end of July.

Definitely will not fit the new GSA. If you need more than the 24liters the new bike (or reg F800 + Camel Tank) offers, then the Touratech unit is a good choice.

I know the MRT and Wolfgang/Anny well! I attend every year and usually do a presentation or tech clinic of some sort. I will be there again this year. There is a cool backcountry adventure planned for 2013, should be a great time! It's at Toad Rock Campground near the Balfour ferry terminal on Kootenay Lake.

I have my hands full with the ver.1 Camel Tank and once it's done then I'll be looking hard at a ver.2 for the Hepco Becker style racks.

There needs to be enough demand to warrant hundreds of hours in design time and tens of thousands in molds/molding cost, brackets, fittings etc. Would there be enough people willing to dish out $300-500 for a very brand/model specific product like an in-pannier-tank for Jesses? I have no idea. Either way. I love hearing suggestion for products people would like to see built :clap

Its a bloody small world! I have known Wolfgang for many years ever since he 1st rode in Oz on his white African Queen back in the mid 90's. My 1st MRT in Germany was in 2000. He invited me over early this year and offered to lend me his F800GS, but I decided to ship my bike over instead.

Have just spoken to him tonight about my travel plans, and plan to be in Edmonton Sunday evening 28th July.

Look forward to meeting you and having a beer.

Pics are a good start. Would need to see it in person and measure things to know for sure. Throw some pics up here if you can.

Excellent solution! Please sign me up. Zega Pro Panniers...Thanks. BTW Touratech informed me this week that they have no plans to make a large tank for the 2013 F800/F700GS at this time...

"Thanks for the question. Touratech-USA is not aware of any plans to produce a large tank for the 2013+ F800/F700GS at this time".

And I think they never will since they announced the 8GSA, their big tank is about as much as the price difference between getting a normal 8GS and the GSA. They make crazy useless stuff but aren't stupid :lol3

Yep. Cracks me up! Bought my 2013 last month thinking I'll put the big tank on it then as soon a Touratech tell me there's no plans for one I'm thinking that BMW must have something in the pipeline...sure enough 3 days later here comes the 'Adventure'... Oh well. Love the bike and this fuel solution :d

Great work on this tank Oso Blanco!

I like that you are adding enough range for 99.9% of all rides, while not increasing weight much or adding any additional bulk.

The perfect alternative to make a GSA equivalent bike for those that already have a GS. :clap
