    RTS??? Two Questions:
    1. Are the ranges in WV or VA?
    2. Do the National Forest Rangers frown on automatic weapons?

    Just asking....

Kevin, going to make an assumption that one of the ranges is West Side Range just west of you off of Rte. 33 near Brandywine. Only restriction I see on that one is No Flying Targets, i.e., clays. Not sure what the other one is, as there are several in the area.

I suspect that NFA weapons would be allowed as long as they, and the owner, were accompanied by the proper forms and paperwork. Mike may already know this, but if said weapons were to be carried across state lines, the appropriate authorities would need to be notified in advance. That may be what he was asking where the ranges were located.

Your right Guy the first one is West Side, the other one is Hite Hollow near Augusta Springs VA. I've been to both and have never seen any restrictions posted and don't see anything on their website either.

Unless something has changed recently, the only requirement to bring an NFA (SBR, full auto) weapon across lines is a letter/ form from the BATFE granting permission. It's pretty simple actually, all you have to do is tell them that you will be traveling to other states for competitions or training and they give you the letter. The only problem I've ever heard of would be traveling to a state where full auto is prohibited.

No dip shit - tell them you are going to compete at Blackwater or Black Creek or one of the numerous ranges where the conduct e Gun competitions. We have guys show up all the time for out of state to shoot. Hell, we even have subgun matches at some of the ranges.

Once you get the letter, it's good for a year. We used to haul the Sterlings all over the place.

And I'll probably be bringing along the S&W .45 pistol. So if we are doing the shooting thing bring some .45 ammo and I'll share.

Since I can't reliably hit squat with my handguns (well - that's not quite true), I may have to hitch up the Cyclemate and load it up with some of the long guns I have that I CAN make a dent with. Thinking a couple of AR platformed pieces (one in 7.62x39), perhaps the M1A, one of my Garands, and maybe one of my M1 Carbines. Hope to have received an AR10 (.308) lower I need to finish machining by then - but - have already been waiting 6 months for that blank to come in so not holding my breath.

At any rate, this should be fun and looking forward to it.

Probably won't have time for all that if we're going to hit both ranges. If people want to hang out and shoot all day that fine too, there can certainly be more than one group.

I was thinking, leave h14's at 9ish, street ride to brandywine and shoot for hour or so, eat pie at Fox's, ride dirt to other range, try to figure out how to get back to h14's without backtracking while riding more dirt.

Maybe have the "big guns" do a ride to Hite Hollow range and the ones wanting to ride and shoot with more riding follow mtnflow's plan and eventually meet up with the other group at Hite Hollow.

There are no dirt/gravel roads around here like there are there. I'll be riding and not shooting. :ricky So anyone not shooting can follow me. :deal

I can shoot anytime I want at the old farm dump where my shop is.

Occasionally I just walk across the street out front and into the field under the power lines with this...
