As Jabba said, I was just there.

It was my first time. I was only there for one night. But tell me what you want to know, and I'll do my best.

There weren't a whole lot of people there on Thursday night, but it seemed like a pretty eclectic crowd. There was a guy on a CBR, some guys on BMWs, a Harley or two, a couple of Goldwings . . . .

The shower/bathroom facilities are nicer than TWO, in my opinion. Cleaner, bigger, in better state of repair, etc.

You can't have individual campfires (which kind of sucks). There's just one campfire ring. Some people prefer this.

I didn't really check out the cabins. I was told they were nice though. They looked clean and tidy.

The owner of the campground seemed really nice and laid back. He was quite happy to just shoot the shit with anyone who came into the office/shop.

I enjoyed the experience and would have no qualms about going back.

Just came from there this weekend...I tented it but have rented cabins there in the past. Phil is a cool guy. Cabins are nice, clean, dry and worth the $. Tent sites are also good. Good mix - Yams, BMWs, Kawi, etc. One central file pit. Bathrooms are good/clean.Food at TWO might be slightly better, but less dinner oriented that the kitchen at BRP.

Have stayed there a couple of times.
Atmosphere OK. Food....'lacking', but edible. There are plenty of better places to eat within a 20 minute ride.
Lots of Harley types, but everybody gets along.

Best entertainment to be had is feeding the monster trout in the fish pond.
If the campground is crowded, there can be a long line at the showers.....toilets, etc. Get up early.
    I've only tented there.....

BRMC is a great place. :thumb The cabins are clean and comfy, and the price is right. Usually a good mix of bikes and people. Just get up early for the showers :nod The community fire pit can be fun too.

    Hey Ed...
No problem! I had a real case of 'dropsies' that day!
Along with the braindead moment at Cot.......later that afternoon on Wayah road, I managed to drop the bike again.....when I had pulled off onto the shoulder to wait for the group to catch up....put my foot down where there wasn't anyplace for it to land....and toppled over.
Duh! No damage either time....except to pride....which I don't have much of.
Nice to know the bike is 'tipover damge proof'!

One thing to mention, there are now enough 'motorcycle friendly' facilities in the NC/Tn/GA/va mountains, you can do an extended regional trip.....and stay exclusively at 'motorcycle' places! I can't think of any other area in the US you can do this.

I used to go to BRP campgroung '97-'99, always had fun, it was mostly not tooo busy. They had laundry, air compressor(for tires). If I recall right, the cabins didn't have restrooms, FYI. I don't know if it is open but, there was also a mc campground called High Country, run by turkey tom, somewhere by boone.

I heard High Country is only open for group events now...or is closed.

There is also one in the works near Tellico Plains, TN, and the 'Trials Center' place in TN. (Forget the exact name and url)

Thanks for the list of campgrounds. Looks like the South has it all over us northerners when it comes to mc friendly camping.
