We are planning on riding the Royal Gorge Rail Road on Sunday. I'm looking for suggestions for places to camp with our popup camper for Saturday and Sunday nights.

My search technique is not good, as I'm not finding much.

Suggestions for places and how difficult it will be to find an available spot for Saturday night would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Jim, you can also try further up the road from red canyon park. There is the sandgulch and banks campground. Both are blm ( no running water but level spots and outhouses, 7,- per night.) however they do fill up this time of the year due to climbers. There is also wild camping in the approximate areas of those campgrounds. Also on the way to red canyon park ( just a couple miles north of canyon city) just after you cross a creek you’ll see a sign for “Oilwell” flats. Wild camping is available there as well and not as crowded as the previous mentioned areas. Search for mtb trails near canyon city.

Jim......there is also a Canon City Park right out at the rim on the canyon ( near the bridge) it's cheap, easy to get to, not far from town, and has some nice views. Not too many people know about it

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like there are lots of options.

Look out Cañon City, here we come. Spelled it correctly this time. Also changed the title.

    Thanks again.
