very interesting.. my first attempt was during monkey butt 500 - it was tough east to west... i think I have enough seat time to hit it much better, but the bags will make it tougher. are you saying ride to salida then go east?

The section to Cotopaxi is a highlight on the trip. We will cut essentially from Floressaint via dirt road to 11Mile reservoir then take dirt/ trails SW until we hit Cotopaxi. Not many have gone this way, some great riding.

    Departure after breakfast
    - I would say we leave the Hungry Bear 8:45am at the latest.

GPS tracks - Try it and let me know if it works for you. I manually mapped it so its not 100% but close.

Cotopaxi Gas - As mentioned there is a gas station at Cotopaxi. I used the earlier and there is fairly good food here. Should be good from there to the Sand Dunes Gas station.

Manitou Moto - Is going to miss out

Camping, Cabin'ing, Glamping, Diva Camping - I dont know where everyone is staying and it looks like just (3) right now (AimHi, Stephenson & BlackJackDavey (BJD). I noticed in the thread BJD has a cabin booked (edit). Maybe Polak5 wants to share with you - up to you guys.

Polak5 - Come along! Anyone else let us know.

Safety - I will get everyone's cell number and a backup emergency number and text to my wife and another rider on the trip just in case.
You are ultimately responsible for yourself but we will work as a team to help each other.

BlackJackDavey - Looks like your coming in from Boulder maybe. If you want to leave your truck @ my house you are welcome to. Just PM me, I live close to Rampart in Larkspur.

Thanks everyone. Hope the weather clears out, extended forecast is 72F/ 32F for Alamosa so it should be nice with the dirt "grippy" after the rain.
Last big ride for me this year.

    Look fwd to this;

Section between 11Mile Res and Cotopaxi - thanks Yellow Pig for showing me this route (P.S. you are going to miss out)

Hayden Pass - Except we are going the other way - LOL!

    thnx for the reply..
I am trying to make this work, just have some variables.

-Im driving from ft Collins so im gonna have to leave early and meet ya guys when you are leaving breakfast. I would just eat on the way.

-My bigger problem is that my bike is getting carburator work done.... needle is SNAFU.... shop is not sure it will be ready by Friday.

    Just playing this by ear.
BTW would be kewl if we can share a cabin and just use our own sleeping gear.. Would help to shed weight.

Anyways soo that's my situation we will see how it goes

Yeah - but more detail; at Cotopaxi we will stop and if we have enough time intercept RT off Hayden Rd or slab to Hillside, then Lake Creek and intercept RT.

Sturg - It sound like we have (2) cabins booked with (4) people. I you can't get another one we could squeeze you into one if you want, but bring your tent and sleeping pad in case.

This evening I'll do rollcall so we know exactly who we can expect and where to meet.

    AimHi - In
    Stephenson - In
    BlackJackDavey -In
    Polak5 - Strong Maybe
    Shawner2713 - Maybe
