I'm a BMW GSA rider, but but I'm in this one for the long haul. As others have said, it's the rider, not just the ride. I'm betting you go all the way. And we're all going to get to ride along with you. Fantastic!

Doug, you have no idea how people in cyberspace have been waiting for this week to arrive. We wish you well, and will be following your every move. A ton of middle class guys (and gals) sitting in offices everyday thinking about the weekend and tuning in. You are a true inspiration, whether you like it or not.

Sporty? I got your Sporty.... I got your Sporty right here.....

Go with Throttles up Doug, go with Throttles up.

Yo Doug, looking forward to this one and with SPOT to keep an eye on you!

What's the range of your Sportie? Walter C noted that there was a real dearth of gas stations in his travels 'out East' ?

I'll take that bet and you're gonna regret,
Cause Doug's the best they's ever been.

My sincere apologies to Charlie Daniels, but it had to be said...

For a crazy person like Doug, I sincerely doubt Charlie Daniels would mind.:lol3

Is that a chain I see on an 'Arley? I see you changed the air filter, but did you change the carb too? In my experience, the stock one does not work too well at different altitudes. Also, your air filter may spit a little oil.

    Good luck, you bollix!

chain. chains wear out, belts just snap.

carb is basically stock, with jet kit.
if you stick a dainty supermodel size panty liner on the bottom inside of the breather, it'll catch the oil that the vent spits out.
By the end of the trip tho, I'm sure I'll have to upgrade to the "OH LAWDY' high flow type of 3 inch thick maxi pads. (they also make really good helmet padding)

I try to share helpful tips whenever possible. make sure to take notes.

Or drill a hole and stick in a tube that redirects any "excess" oil to the tarmac underneath and you'll have a clean and dry Sporty.
