I think he hooked up with one other guy at the start of the RoB and also met someone else - I think on the way up to RoB from Tynda that was going to tag along... It's back there a few pages somewhere :/

He planned to meet up with Tom (a fellow American, based in Moscow and ADV regular, Motoreiter) on his G650X-Challenge, at Yakutsk to ride to Magadan together.
They duly met up and with another guy, Hansjorg an Austrian on an F650GS.
They have also been with some of the Moscow Off Road Riders Club who are in the area but may be going separately.

    Referring to water levels -
If water levels are high, the western summer road could be more problematic than usual, but the eastern section should still be reasonably passable.
The federal road should be no real problem at all - just slippery! Old wooden bridges have been replaced with new concrete ones and the surface regularly graded and maintained. Just a few rocky watersplashes early on.

I believe from SMSs and from the pics I saw from Yakutsk, he's with Pate and 5 other Moscow guys, as well as Tom.

If you are going to do the old road when the waters are high, its best to do it with a bunch of crazy Russians who have the same objectives.

TP, if you missed it before, pics are here on Bolots site ... http://askyakutia.com/2011/08/photo...-kolyma-highway-road-of-bones-siberia-russia/ ... You can see a lot of the guys ... Tom is there, Pate/Misha, Cherepakha/Volodya (if you have met him) and I think I see Big Andrei in one of the pics, dwarfing Tom ... all there together in Yakutsk

I just noticed on Doug's Spotwalla that he did some significant going back an forth in Khandyga before leaving town. Looks like he's on the move.

According to spotwalla he is heading north towards Ust Nera on the federal highway.

For the Old summer Road they should have turned right at Kyubyume for Tomtor. So most probably the waters were very high.

    Anyway best of luck,
