Seeing as my first ADV RR was a Turkey Day jaunt from 2007, I thought I'd reprise it this year.

Not to mention that this afternoon was about the only one I've had free and clear for months. The giblets had been removed, the bird brined, and the pinot noir purchased. All that remained was to arrive home at just the right time to enjoy the meal but avoid the prep.

My poor SM has been sorely neglected this year, and it protested by killing the battery when I tried to start it this morning. A few sweaty bump-starts later, I was off into the golden Thanksgiving day, all soft edges, dappled light, sparkling lakes, chestnut-sweet air, and beat-up, pot-holed, twisty, lumpy, chip-seal Canadian roads. This is SM country...God help you if you're riding a 916 through here.

A few miles from home, heading up the Arden road north of Tamworth.

These chaps are destined to eternally catch the same poor fish, day after day. I guess we're all in the same boat, no pun intended...

Rest stop north of Hwy 7 near Myers Cave.

Gas station in Plevna. Good thing I had the 20L Safari tank on my DRZ.

Too bad though. This gas was cheap!

A little farther down the road, this place was for sale last time I was through here. If only I bought lottery tickets. And had even an ounce of good luck.

The road in front of that house was a real treat, as are virtually all the roads between Kingston and Ottawa.

Can't go wrong with any of the 500-series roads, and it's a boon to live within 45 mins of them.

The sign that marks a good day's ride.

One of many gorgeous small-town churches, this one in Snow Road Station.

I think I've found my new home. Tin roof, wood stove, and let the winter come.

Organic coffee, fair-trade no less, on Hwy 7? On the _north_ side of Hwy 7?? Times, they are a-changin'...

Gratuitous self-timer shot. I was indulging my weakness for carrot cake.

Nearing home, some of the sweet curves south of Westport. A grand day out indeed!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all,

    Dan

Three of us were out this afternoon as well not on the same roads but very close. Have some really nice single track dirt roads not too far away. We ended the ride early due to a couple of minor bike problems. Haven't uploaded the pics yet.

Great shots. Three weekends ago I was in that same area riding with some mates on the 500 series highways etc. It was my first time riding on these highways. They were awesome. It was a great break from the dead-straight concession roads here in Bruce County. We might have the best sunsets over Lake Huron but it is not a riders paradise.

    thanks man,

every time I get to thinking of selling the SM, I should just take it for a long rip on roads like this.

What a machine. It has to be one of the most underrated bikes on the market. With a better seat/bigger tank, there isn't much that bike can't do, and certainly nothing is half as much fun!
