Headed south now, runnin' for the border...
Doug is steady motoring down. Not many minutes now and them unruly contrigents have crossed the whole bloody continent...!!!
I think he is behind most of the riders, because he is stopping along the way to enjoy some of the sites and just enjoy his ride. He is taking some photos and seeing things that many of the guys are probably missing.
Probably stopping to help out every breakdown along the way as well...
It's almost be a crime to ride though this area without stoppin once in a while to enjoy the country. Last time I was in that area I took over 1000 pix in 3 weeks
Yeah, I would stop once in awhile myself...
Location from his Spot just a bit ago... nice spot to stop and reflect on nature and machines...
Another google shot from 101, check out this adventure rider...
Can you tell how jealous I am that I am not along for this ride?
Saw them rolling through Trinidad. Near McKinleyville a cop had the chase truck pulled over... dunno ?
Still, it's a Henderson, and still it's a "way cool bike"! (Excelsior had purchased Henderson by the time that 4 cylinder was made, but still it was a Henderson.)
WOW! That Google pic of the dude travelin' on the moped is SICK! Damn I suck and that dude rocks! I'm keeping that pic!
Doug, good to meet ya, and a lot of other's in this amazing group of people.
klamath Falls to Camanche Calif. Just the mile grindin from Reeding to Sac. Boring.
Gotta borrow a puter tomorrow and try to get some picts. Up...
Ride safe and enjoy !
I'm with you on that. Sort of takes away a lot of excuses doesn't it.
And they are on their way again, looks like a great day to be riding the California coast.
I am going to have to do some exploring out there. I wonder if there is somewhere in Northern California to rent adventure bikes?
Yes, there is.
Thanks, perfect, nice selection and just a few miles from Hwy 1!
Looks like they are headed down 254, staying off the highway as long as possible.
Got there a little late for the little bikes, and couldn't find Doug, but damn, what a show! I'll bet Doug had the good sense to sleep in.
Pics and vids to come.
Edit: Here are pix and a wee vid:
And a short vid--the only glimpse I got of a BMW:
I have another vid of a large group leaving, but it's a gigantic file.
Heres a link to some pictures, from Klamath Falls. I havent had time to really go through them, so some may be garbage..
Of course Doug pitched in and helped a unlucky Darryl Richman, that lost grip in a curve and tumbled down a gorge about 20' down with his BMW. Darryl wasn't hurt much and the bike was retrived after some work by helpers and a truck.
Darryl was pretty lucky. he went into the curve, and these BMW floorboards are rigid. the board scraped, picked up the rear wheel, & he & the bike went straight off the road. Had it not hung up on this tree about 20' down, it could have gone another 100' or so. The hillside was really loose shale/sand, it was hard to get it back up. He hurt his foot, and the bike had only a few scrapes & the handlebars are bent.
Drama! Action ! Adventure !
Glad he's OK.
Doug, where did this happen? Looks like Hwy. 1 south of Legget ?:huh
