The Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive is a popular driving tour that includes:

-the northern and southern units of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.
-some excellent motorcycle roads (twisties and elevation changes).
    -views of glacially formed lakes.
    -interesting small towns.
    -gorgeous scenery.

The Kettle Moraine is made up of unique landforms that resulted from the retreat of the last glacier that ran through the neighborhood.

The route is signed. Information about it, including a printable route sheet of driving directions, is in the following link.

All I've done here is put it in GPS form to make the ride a little easier to execute. The file contains a single track of 404 points and a route drawn S to N of about 115 miles. To travel from N to S, just reverse the route. I added a few waypoints for interesting sites that include ice cream stops, observation towers, lookouts, and even a Ural dealer.

Here is a link to an interactive map of the route:

Here are a few maps to give you an overview.

I still can't post any tracks since the server change so just PM me an e-mail address and I'll send it out to you. Soon I'll be putting tracks on another server and will post the link for that.

I have a few custom routes in this area that may be of interest in combination with this one or as a return route. They include the following.

These tracks are now available again for download. Many thanks to fellow ADVer deputyjones who offered some server space.

Go to http://dsam-mi.org/GPS_Files/ and you will see a directory of folders that contain the files. You should be able to choose the proper directory without much trouble. The individual files will have names that are the same as or similar to the file names listed when the files were hosted on ADV.

The files are listed as .zip files. If you left click/open the file, you will open it in your computer's temporary internet directory. Depending on how you have your computer set up, clicking on the .gpx will open the file with Mapsource so you can look at it. Remember, it is in your temporary internet files.

To save the file in one of your neatly filed directories, "left click/save" or "right click/save target as" and put it where you want to keep it.

Some of the files have an associated spreadsheet file with points of interest (Black Hills, Pony Express, etc). Same procedures apply.

Happy to have quick and easy access to these files again. :thumb
