This is a 140 mile ride through east central WI that takes you through the northern unit of the Kettle Morraine State Forest and around Lake Winnebago. Things along the route include:
-Unique landforms formed by a retreating glacier in the Kettle Morraine State Forest.
-Part of the Kettle Morraine Scenic Drive
-Ice Age Trail and Visitor Center
    -Observation Towers
-Old Wade House State Park (1860s WI exhibit)
    -Road America Raceway
-High Cliff State Park on Lake Winnebago
    -Paper Mills/Companies
-EAA Museum (slight side trip in Oshkosh)
    -Central WI Railroad Yard/Headquarters

Start in either Kewaskum or Fond du Lac. Route is about 140 miles.

Was supposed to be 77 degrees today. Decided to ride this route. Trees are still pretty bare (but pollen is on the move . . .). Loaded the track (but not the background maps). Just followed the trackline with the orientation set to the direction I was facing. Very relaxing ride - hardly any traffic. Next time it would be worth it to bring the helmet cam. There are some neat tight twisty and rolling sections that follow some of the glacial features that would produce some neat clips - especially if you were following some other bikes. By the time I was done I put on about 300 miles. Still ice on the north half of Lake Winnebago.

(Note: If you truncate when you load this track, cut it into two pieces first.)

These tracks are now available again for download. Many thanks to fellow ADVer deputyjones who offered some server space.

Go to http://dsam-mi.org/GPS_Files/ and you will see a directory of folders that contain the files. You should be able to choose the proper directory without much trouble. The individual files will have names that are the same as or similar to the file names listed when the files were hosted on ADV.

The files are listed as .zip files. If you left click/open the file, you will open it in your computer's temporary internet directory. Depending on how you have your computer set up, clicking on the .gpx will open the file with Mapsource so you can look at it. Remember, it is in your temporary internet files.

To save the file in one of your neatly filed directories, "left click/save" or "right click/save target as" and put it where you want to keep it.

Some of the files have an associated spreadsheet file with points of interest (Black Hills, Pony Express, etc). Same procedures apply.

Happy to have quick and easy access to these files again. :thumb

I noticed that you do a lot of cool looking routes but I never got a chance to ride them. This weekend I'm going to do this one and the kettle moraine sd. Thanks!
