Id love to join in but will up to my neck helping organise a military commemoration and reenactment at Mahia that weekend with MVCCNZ.

If that kinda thing interests you, there will be a display and hopefully a battle reenactment on the Sunday. Planning to have some tanks and amphibious vehicles on show.

Nice thought, but not very practical for the boys from the Naki (who are after all organising this).

Colin and I were talking about the ride last night and I got an email late last night saying our route across was 1000 km ! ( he must have been playing on Mapsource )

I have thought about it from East to West as a longest day ride but things are usually hectic a few days before Xmas

so ya gunna stay the night in Gizboring.

    Four good things about Gizboring.

    1. KiwiPete lives their, the helpful chap he is.
    2. The very reasonably priced motels on the main drag.
    3. Good pubs and restaurants not far away
    4. seeing Gizboring disappear in the rear view mirror as ya leave :rofl:rofl

My reason for starting at West cape is that we live over this side so we ride 2 days to get over and have the Monday for everyone to get home. If we start at East Cape then we have take time off work to ride over then have our 2 days riding back then leave the Monday for people to get home.
It would be cool to start at Sunrise on the East Coast but I don't think there is much accomodation close.
Maybe some one from over that way could advise of accomodation close ? Gisborne would be to far away to come from.

The closest place I know would be the Te Araroa motor camp. We stayed there a while back, all good.

    Cheers

If can fit it in, I'll meet you guys at the East Cape and join you for whatever distance I can. Maybe some other people from my region will do the same.

Yep, but I won't be :-). I don't have the time to ride all the down, but I should be able to ride some of the way back. I won't be able to wear the t-shirt, but that's OK.

Could be interested in this one depending on the weather ( Too cold for fishing now ).
Would likely meet the group along the way somewhere too.

Let us know a basic outline of the route and what towns we would be staying in as soon as you can Phil / Col.
