Things are iffy for me right now.:lobby If I make it it'll be Saturday morning. I'll head out right when I get off work and be up there around 9am. That's if I don't have to work Saturday. I got to be home by noon Sunday so I can go to rehearsal Sunday afternoon.:kumbaya

    Hi h8chains,

I enjoyed that trip immensely. Especially, the evening campfire part.
Sitting in a vast prehistoric remoteness, gazing at shooting stars through the clear, cold windy night skies, warming yourself by a campfire, cooking meat on sticks, sharing tales of conquests and defeats.
Except for eatpastas LED flashlight, it was as primal as it gets.:lol3

For those who still need directions

    Assuming you're coming from L.A.

    Go north on the 5FW
Exit 166 and go west towards Maricopa
    Get gas in Maricopa
    Go south on 166/33
Look for a tiny abandoned gas station on the right, it's the entrance to Soda Lake Rd.
Stay on Soda Lake Rd. and head west.

Hey Stu Cazzo and Nowhat, Are you guys going up the 33 or the 5 and what time and where are you meeting? I live in Camarillo so meeting at the 126 and 5 are good, or 101 and Las Posas in Camarillo.

Sorry this is late. Just rode in from Mendocino.. Also rode the CA25 from Hollister to San Miguel... Nice 5th gear twisties for a hundred miles...:clap

2 days of full riding, what a blast!

Thanks to Bob for snagging the campsites, to Dennis for the guided and informative tour, and to everyone who showed up.

Saturday, was pretty sedate, we had Bob/XR400R, Dennis/950A, Toni/400EXC, Darren/CR450X, Paul/640A, Wally/GSA1200, and myself/CXR400R. Sorry Artboy, we missed you and didn't cross path.

The next day, the FFs showed up. The Sunday riders include Mike/950E, Tahi/950A, Ed/GS100 PD, Frank/GS100 PD, Jeff/GS Rubicon , Wally/GSA1200, John/KLR650, Hassan/GS1150SE, and myself.

Good mix of riding skills, and variety of bikes Most of the guys rode 300 to 400 miles for all the same reason, come to Carrizo and add another 150 miles to their weary bikes.

    I'll post the pics next.

The weather was beautiful, no bike scratches, and no flats.

Hope everyone had a good and memorable weekend, cause I surely did.

If you see this sign, that means you're there

The Soda Lake Rd, leading to Selby Camp. One of the longest dirt road I've ever been on (excluding my driveway), my guess is about 30 miles.

To camp and another 3 miles of dirt!

Can't bring our guns, so we brought the bikes!

Everyone here in this pic is mild mannered, quite a contrast with the FFs showing up the next day. What a pleasant group! No bs, no swearing, no insults, no showing off, stayed on the trail all the time, pardon my dust, etc.

Quite a cultured group, listened to every word the comes out of our tour guide Dennis (in black Aerostitch)

Prickin' Dennis, he would not advise us to ride our bikes, we have to walk the distance to see a portion of the San Andreas Fault. Even in a broken-in Sidi Disco, my feet hurt.

As you can see, everyone is paying attention to Dennis
