    Hi -

I want to ride the northern section of the BITD Vegas 2 Reno course. Anyone have tracks?

Doesn't have to be the actual course, just looking for all dirt.

    Thank you.

(ps - I've been trying to map a course on Google - but it keeps taking me to the highway. I can't figure it out. Is there a better website to build a route?)

I have dirt routes between every major town and remote gas station in Nevada. I avoid at all costs any race course that has trashed the dirt roads in our state.

See GPSXchange.com, Private Libraries, Statewide Motorized Trail System for NV

    Thanks Jerry -

I saw your name in a different thread, on a similar request. I'm having trouble with the gpsxchange.com site. It hasn't sent me an email for registration and I've noticed I can't download a track until I upload (share) a track. That ain't going to happen, because I'm a neophyte.

I'm going to keep playing around with it and try to figure it out.

Brad, I have noticed a couple posts about problems with registration the last oouple days, contact Christian. Read conditions again, upload not required to download Private Libraries (my stuff). Could also e-mail file if you want. -J

Jerry - I just did this on google maps. Look familiar?

I'm going to try to download it to my 60csx. I have no idea if that's possible.

I don't use Google much. Waypoints are too far apart to see route.

Pretty tricky. You actually have to click the link.

Sorry I am not a Goggle person. All I see are the way points no track/route etc. You can post a .gpx file here.

Have you got registered at GPSXchange.com yet?

Garmin Topo, City Nav, Roads & Rec, Google Maps with terrain and satellite view, Google Earth, state maps, Forest Service maps, park maps, pictures of road signs, and fellow forum members are all valuable resources for doing exactly what you are trying to do. Arbitrarily not using one or more of those is like a mechanic saying "Sorry, I'm not a 1/2" drive person." Kinda silly.

I've been registered there for years. Not sure who you mean. ??

Now that I posted a picture of the route ( "I'm not much of a GPX person" ) maybe you can answer his question. No .GPX file required.

What's REALLY silly is badmouthing probably the world's top dual sport ride creator, telling him his technique is bad. His technique and tools work extremely well for him, leaving everyone else in the dust. Would you tell Jimi Hendrix he should spend valuable time learning to play keyboard and drums because they're great instruments that can do things no guitar can do?

Except OaklandLion asked for TRACKS in the very first sentance, not a Google map or satellite views or anything else. And when it comes to sharing, Routes are like a box of chocolates on a hot day, you never know what you're going to get, and it generally doesn't look the same as when it was created. If you were being as critical towards your own posts as you are towards Countdown you would have used all those mapping tricks you listed to convert that map to a track.

Sorry I am old, and though I was a rocket scientist, I make a lot of mistakes now. I was asking about this post. Didn't notice some one else jumped in with a non-answer to his question.
