That's a good point. I planned on doing the linking of the routes via Basecamp, from a higher res image/map, so at least that'll be reasonably reliable.

That's cool, I'm just excited to see it on a map I can play with. I'll load up Basecamp on this computer too. I need me one of those new geo-tagged cameras now, to remind me where I took pictures along the way.

I'll get those tracks off of my old laptop today, hopefully. They'll probly miss the section from Detroit to Santiam Pass, we slabbled that section on that trip, and it will keep going South past Big Lake and include the North half of OBCDR Route 3. It is perfect that an original set of tracks are at higher res, but for those with a Garmin 60CX or similar may need it dumbed down later to fit. I think they limit at 500 pionts. per track.

If you're shooting digital photos, there should be a time stamp on the photos properties. I will sometimes match that to the time logs on my GPS track to remember where exactly the photo was at. It's a kind of geo-tag, in a roundabout way.

Ride with gps does allow you to make gpx tracks that don't follow a road fyi, they seem to have pretty good maps too.

Okay, I've cleaned up the routes I have, and uploaded them for review. I've Re-worked them into four sections (so far). We're missing a little bit in the middle (Sun River area to Union Creek Campground).

I decided to pick a START POINT. I don't really care where it is, but it was easier to just pick one for now. I choose the Best Western in Gov. Camp, since that general area is a good meeting place. That means that I carved off some of the route East of Frog Lake/Clear Lake. However, I think it would be great to have THE ROUTE, and then a few stand-alone files that cover getting to THE ROUTE from PDX, and other larger cities.

    So far, the files are:
    CDR_1_GovtCamp_to_OllalieLk.gpx
    CDR_2_OllalieLk_to_Detroit.gpx
    CDR_3_Detroit_to_BigLk.gpx
(EDIT: sprocket3 sent over the missing section. (Thanks!) I'll edit and reload later.)
    CDR_4_SunRiver_to_UnionCrkCamp.gpx

I'm using Magenta and that light blue color. (When I have multiple legs in a route, I usually alternate the colors.)

Here's a link to the gbc map search of the area.

We can link these together later, after more work.

Does anyone have that missing section?
    Any other feedback/issues?

Here's a map of the area covered.

Ok, so this is just awesome. I am heading up a rally in July this year. https://www.facebook.com/events/1493111244275045/?ref_notif_type=event_mall_comment&source=1 I was planning on doing the whole ORBDR, then the WABDR...but I really didn't want to have to backtrack west after the end of the ORBDR. This is just what the doctor ordered, to give us some nice challenges....and a 'shortcut' that might just take longer ;) I will using these tracks on my S5 running Osmand. If anyone is interested in utilizing your smartphone for dual sporting....I made this video....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC7qEh1TuXU

Thanks for the work with these tracks....and for sharing !

Well done!! This is the most exciting thing I've seen posted in a while, and I can't wait to come down and try it on the 450. A sincere thanks to everyone that has contributed, especially Apple Jam. Stuff like this is really the heart and soul of adventure riding! :freaky

I've been slowly exploring areas between Hoodoo and Marion Forks. Been really excited about finding a route from home in Bend up to Hood River. Great idea!

Oh yeah,...and NO LITTERING in MY Forest !!!
If I see a beer can or even toilet paper left behind from any of you fuggers,
...you're gonna hear about it !![/QUOTE]

Trust me, Apple Jam looks like Smokey the Bear watching the remnants of a forest fire in those old commercials when we pull into campsite that has a bunch of garbage left behind by car campers.... me too! It just does not set the mood for stealth camping!
We were in a very cool campsite outside Detroit Lakes, one spot was good except for the garbage and truck camper deposed of in the campsite, so we picked another, shit and toilet paper everywhere, bags of garbage out by the roads, yes bags! It was disturbing!
On a bike we can't pick up a ton of garbage, we did our best at some spots, but some had too much trash... terrible, terrible!
Pack it in, pack it out! If you poop in the woods and wipe, bury the the stuff, all of it! Please!
    Thanks, rant over! Carry on!

We need an expert on the Cascade Lakes Scenic area from Bend to step up.

I've supplied a couple tracks that are really good, but they leave some big slab sections. Also, one area appeared to be recently closed that I rode through last summer.

Does anyone know a good route from Waldo Lake to Cresent Lake Junction for fuel without a large amount of Slab. Aside from the way up from Little Cultus lake. I'd like to see the route head up NF-398 (W end of Cresent Lake) and make that awesome loop around Summit Lake, but not take the standard OBRDR#3 that runs down the center from Sun River area. Trying to keep it up higher in the Cascades per the theme.

From Estacada, take Abbott Rd (FS4610) East. Abbott is another perfect unimproved Wilderness border road, between two Wilderness'. Keep going East until you get to Frying Pan Lake (en-route). It's on a old unimproved short section of the original Abbott Rd, way at it's East end, running parallel-ish to the current single-lane paver FS58. The PDXers can pick up the CDR to the North to Hood River OR to the South to Big Lake from there.

You can ride a bike to Sisters in 3 hours, if you want.
We can help you take three days to ride bikes there with these...'shortcuts'

I bet the tour for money guys are lurking back there & loving all this layout. That was the original plan for AJ too, (alas AJ's tours are something not on the registry :super)...but it didn't take hold, so this is an excellent collaboration. Thanks AJ for freeing this up for all of us to enjoy, & thank you to Circusinthesky for looping it all together.

Hope the tour companies can not over whelm this path & turn it into a tourism junky trail.

THERE ARE GOING TO BE ENOUGH OF OUR ADV BRETHERAN INDULGING IN IT AS IT IS!

    Thanks again AJ!

Filled in some holes today from sprocket3's tracks. Haven't uploaded anything yet. Still working on some things. Just wanted to show the latest overview.

This runs from Government Camp to Prospect's fuel station.

Here's something we need: Where are all the little fuel stops along the route? I know there are some lakes that have gas pumps for boats, but I don't recall where they are.

If you can send me either coords, a google maps link that'd be great.
