Yes, that's the one. That's what I'd be doing since our area is up in flames right now.
You can download the entire GPX track, plus maps, plus itinerary from the BestRest website. There's also a 45-minute video showing the highlights of the trip.
BestRest created that route. I know the guy personally.
LOL, I see what you did there!
So it looks like we're going to probably do half of the WABDR and then loop back around to Portland. Would rather do the CDR, but plans change!
Not a full ride report (yet... I'm getting to it!), but this July a group of us were paused on the CDR, attempting to navigate around some pretty large trees that had fallen over the winter, and just as we were starting to consider using brute strength, this KISA (Knight in Shining Armor) rides up, unhooks his 20" chainsaw and starts cutting. One of the major highlights of our trip... Thanks Jeff and Other Dude (who's name I cannot remember, I'm so sorry)! It was awesome meeting the two of you.
That's Apple Jam (Jeff) on the right - he's the one who MADE and published that route. The other guy goes by "Eric N", ironically his name is, Eric.
Jeff has a fun annual campout event at his place in Parkdale this weekend, that is open to other riders. There will be day rides, food and free camping (Donations appreciated).
Liv2Day put up a great RR on riding a portion of this CDR as well as parts of WABDR on two KTMs and a Husky...
Oops, I apologize, I certainly went the wrong way with that. Apparently my brain was not in gear when I posted.
Liv2Day has posted another great CDR adventure in Day Trippin with a different group this time.
Well, CDR Riders?.....
It's time to look at next years' Apple Jam's Roaming Rallies for 2018 !!
Last years' RR entrants may email me at any time for pre-entry into one of this years' Roaming Rallies.
I will send out emails to past entrants this weekend sometime for pre-registration info.
General public registration will begin January 1st at NOON on the Ride Oregon First website.
July 27-29 - Apple Jam's North Cascades Roaming Rally - (similar to last year's premier RR)
August 24-26 - Apple Jam's South Cascades Roaming Rally - (new event, new places, new food!)
These paid events ^^^ are both well-organized, very well-fed, 3 day and 2 night Catered Camping fun!!
See the web page for more info.
IN, at least for one of them...as long as all the spots don't fill before Jan 1st!
Poopiejoe1 and I are in, for at least one of the rides, but probably both!
This time. I hope. Shit. We’ll see.
Well, if you need some more convincing, I set up a "Vendors" page on ADVRider:
i only see the north half of the updated gps files on CDR site. Southern half getting an update? I guess I don't need them anytime soon.
Might be snowed in for awhile still.
Southern half is further from home, it'll take a little longer.
There'll be a bunch more South come Summer!
I want looking for Detroit to Big Lake, must have been a glitch I see both north halves now.
It is a lttle glitch. The CDR website and maintenance are free from Rob. G, and you found it and so does everyone else after a bit of clicking, so I didn't complain !
About June/July this year, we'll add a whole NEW section South of Big Lake, going down to Crater Lake!
