Trial was yesterday. I work with a bunch of JMU alums with strong ties in the area. I had Aaron Graves (http://www.aarongraveslaw.com) represent me in court - I did not appear myself. He is a friend of a friend and did a great job.

Had the ticket reduced to Defective Speedometer - which cost $161 total for the fine and no points :deal :freaky.

    Ha! Congrats ErrorCooled :thumb

Yes that pic was from my previous Ruckus which I sold and bought the Stella. :lol3 :puke1
Already ordered a new Polini Variator and belt :clap

Other important mods will be a sealed air intake with high mounted snorkel, gasket sealed CVT case, epoxy or waterproofed wiring connections in the battery box and some led halo lights I still had knocking around from the last ruck.

Did you go through the titling and plate process yet? Curious as to how that is working now that DMV has oversight. I wonder if you get an actual plate?

Not yet. I'm going legally illegal as long as I can :deal They will have a plate that says "Moped" and is about the size of a moto plate.

Virginia law requires mopeds operated on Virginia roadways to be titled and registered by July 1, 2014.*
A title is $10. The annual registration fee is $20.25.

DMV will not require/collect the following for mopeds:
    Hybrid fee
    Insurance
    Odometer reading
    Safety inspection
Sales and use tax (exempt from PPT)

Yeah very good question. Check out the Abandoned Vehicles Program in VA. It used to be a PITA but now it is super easy to tag bikes without titles all online. Just costs $25 and takes about two months or so. Beard and I used it for Ol Stinky and he is in the process of using it for a CL or CB

Is it under 50cc? My understanding is that they will take a notary's note on this form as proof of ownership for Moped titling. You can have your mom, brother etc sell you the bike.

"Customers without an ownership document can bring in documentation such as a bill of sale with a completed "Moped and All-Terrain Vehicle Affidavit in Lieu of Title Certificate" (Form VSA-12M)"

    That's really COOL!!
I have an 87 TT350 and a 74 XL100 that need titles/tags. Both projects are on hold til I can work out making them legal.
