I checked the former Tepusquet RD Sisquoc River crossing out pretty thoroughly. In the past it was possible to cross the "river" either with or without bridge present. The bridge is gone on top of that it looks like the waters of the mighty Sisquoc have turned the river banks into small cliffs. The only other options seemed to involve disregarding private property No Trespassing signs and some locked gates.

I hope we see and salute you :flip

Sadly I don't have a bike for this weekend but hope you have a good time. Also hope to read reports from this weekend and connect with some of you and ride some of these roads later.

I'm looking for a good used 350-650cc dual sport for around town and exploring the local hills. A street registered Honda XR400R might be ideal. I'm willing to consider other bikes as well. Thanks.

I don't remember there ever being a bridge crossing the Sisquoc on Tepusquet. :scratch

The gates are closed when there has been rain and usually open back up when it dries out enough to run a grader over it. Last time I tried to cross it, about a month ago there was still water in it. So it could be open or it could still be closed, Computorless said he would prolly be up there today and would let know.

    :lurk

I'm sure there was a bridge there the first time I rode across.

Like virginity, it was my first time and I was drunk so it may not count. :D

It was definitely sure as poop a no-go the last time when I checked it out a few weeks ago.

There was never a bridge, just some big culverts covered with earth. It washes out every year with the rains. The only bridge is on Santa Maria Mesa Road (the one you/we will be riding) that intersects Tepusquet.

The earthen crossing goes between Tepusquet Road and Foxen Cyn Road, and is currently fenced and lock-gated. Not passable now, but no problem.

Hey everyone, GSWayne and I will be joining you for breakfast on Saturday at the Deer Lodge. We aren't planning on doing the whole ride, though.

Just got in. 12 hours, 408 miles. Not much dirt though. Just out this morning and in this evening on Soda lake Road (traveling south through the Carrizo near dusk is my favorite :clap) and over Parkfield to Coalinga.

Met DarrenO and Brian in Cholame for the ride. We went over Parkfield to Coalinga, then over Los Gatos to King City and through Hunter-Ligget. Caught up with some fire crews hauling over Nacimiento/Fergusson. Our request to pass the convoy was denied.:deal

Darren and Brian were last seen entering the Main Street Cafe in Cambria. I headed back to 41/LaPanza/58/Soda Lake.

Darren and I meet tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM at 33/166 in Cuyama Valley. See you FFs at breakfast.:D

The motley crew assembles for breakfast.

This is the Deer Lodge. Where are all the Harleys??

The bikes are as random as the riders.

In general, the bikes were better looking than the riders.

We didn't do the real ride, thats why we are home posting photos instead of riding until dark. We just did the 33-58-101 loop back to Santa Barbara, 300 nice miles but no dirt. Considering how much faster the rest of the group was on the paved road we decided not to hold them up on the dirt where we would have even been slower.

It was nice to meet a few more of the Advrider tribe.

I think that I can identify most of the motley crew:
From L to R, going clockwise around the table:
Dave (Richard Cabesa), Mike (Treadless), Bob, Wally (WallyWhirled), Dave (ddennis 669), Darren, Joel (h8 Chains), Don, Jeff, Diane (Eyes Shut), Wayne (GSWayne), and Mario (californiaxrv).
