The club championship of all of Europe, and both games are being played in a single city. :lol3

    Same old Arsenal, always cheating

I'll bet that is rescinded on review

We could debate that. I've seen lesser challenges whistled in the open field. It doesn't always matter if the tackler touches the ball. Red card? That's a tougher question.

A convincing result, to say the least.

Should the worst happen, should Chelsea not advance, then the final should be a truly entertaining event.

Agreed...but did he deny a clear goal scoring opportunity?

I think after Fletch kicked the ball out of the way Fabregas was no longer in control of the ball, even through Fletch's follow through leg did bring him down.

Very harsh call to Red card a player out of the final...especially as that foal/penalty had no bearing on the final result.

Apart from that, Utd put in a good performance, I can't think of a player who was their weakest link, or for that matter, a player who even put a foot wrong.

Wenger was banking on the fact that The Emirates has been a fortress this year, yet they hardly tested Van der Sar.

So, what was the story with the K9 units sniffing the stands during the 2nd half?

Agreed, a dominating performance by United. And a disappointing return to non-form for Arsenal. Arschavin really does make a huge difference to that team.

Dunno about the problem in the stands. :dunno

    :D

No Henry, not even on the bench. And Anelka starts alongside Drogba.

Anelka's been improving his wide play, so for once, I like this pairing up front.

But I'm not kidding myself. All it takes is one mistake and that lighting quick little bugger Messi will slip in and either score or set someone up. I hope Ashley Cole is up for the challenge.

And Chelsea absolutely, positively cannot afford to give up a goal. I'm very nervous.

Sid, any chance you could do a line by line text commentary? I've got what appears to be an Iranian team playing some Cairo mob here on TV, and it's snowing too, which is odd

I could, sort of, if you don't mind being a few minutes behind the action.

I record it and let a few minutes elapse before I start watching. That way I can speed through halftime.

I saw there was a new posting in this thread and scrolled down carefully so if there was a spoiler I'd spot it in time.

    :umph

Sorry, I can't post if there's something updating the thread in real time, it spoils it for me. :dunno

See you at the back end of the game.

This ref just doesn't want to give a penalty. You get some who are like that.

Malouda and Drogba both have respectable claims. The Malouda decision was had to rationalize. The ref just doesn't want the game decided by a penalty, I presume.

I hope he's as unyielding at the other end of the pitch.

Terrible news about Daniela. She's a tremendous player.

What irony the tackle came from Abby Wambach, who herself suffered a broken leg... against Brazil.
