Inmates that are much wiser than I,
Who is ALMOST complete with his build, THIS GUY!! (Did the crowd just scream for you also?) You know you are getting down to the finishing touches when you are asking questions about your center stand. So here is my problem:

I disassembled the bike without remembering how a few things connect, and my Clymer is good for some things, this is not one of them. I have the center stand I bought the bike with, and a Reynolds ride off stand that I was hoping to replace the original with because it was shorter and puling the bike onto the stand isnt the easiest thing to do. Unfortunately the spring mounts on the Reynolds make the springs too short to be affective. So... I put the original stand back on, attached the springs as I thought I had remembered them and the stand doesnt want to lock in the up position, the springs put force into the down position.
The parts I am using (part numbers are the closest to what I can determine, hopefully they are all right.):
    46 52 1 234 514 tension spring x2
    46 52 1 230 409 shackle (on the front right engine mount)
    46 52 1 241 597 shackle (on front left engine mount)

    What am i missing?
Also, my original stand does not look like the one on the parts fiche on the MaxBmw page....

    Thanks for your help.

Here's the fiche from Max BMW. You have the springs on backward, but I don't think that's your only problem:

garth. If the springs opposite positioning was my problem, I'd be fine since the retainers on the springs are the same diameter. I do have greater problems, that is why I am asking the higher powers for assistance.
