You all are giving me too much credit! Darel Williamson has done all the work providing me with all the tracks. I just put them together. I did go down and ride the northern half of the ride with him last Saturday. Hope the weather cooperates. Lookin forward to seein you all. We will have the same Big Bike Ride as well if any big bikes show up. Same route as last year but Matt was the only one that showed up with a big bike and rode it.

I have the tracks put together. I sent them to Darel for him to give them a last look over. Will probably post them up here tomorrow evening.

New to the Mid-South, transplanted to Memphis from coastal VA. Looking for the best places to ride in Arkansas and some new friends to show me around. Anyone riding/camping this weekend?

Welcome! You're missing a camp-n-ride as we speak near Mena, but that is on the very opposite side of the state. Check out the AR-ADV Camping Thread on here for info. Go to the first page and there is a link to the 2017 camping/riding schedule. Unfortunately for you and me up here north of Jonesboro in NE Arkansas (70 miles from Mempho) , every ride tends to be in the Ozark and Ouachita mountains of western Arkansas. They are a boat load of fun though and worth the effort to get over there. They typically have separate big bike and small bike routes.

I've seen you post on the Memphis Area Rides/Events thread. You have a big bike or small? There is a smattering of us over here in and around Jonesboro that ride but we're mainly small bike (plated race bikes) guys. We do enjoy riding gravel on occasion.

Edit: Just saw what you ride. I also have an XR650L that I ride less gnarly stuff on. The foothills are about 25 miles west of where I live and there is some decent gravel over there. Snake (from your backyard) came over last year and rode the Pocahontas-Powhatan D/S loop from the Arkansas Tourism website which is mostly gravel and seemed to enjoy it.

Anyone else off next Mon-Wed? I'm going to work on the floors two days and ride the other.
Need to give Dave-O a call and see if he's able to pull the clutch in yet.

I shoulda brought my WR450 down and rode around your area yesterday. Made a deal with my wife to burn a day of vacation and take six young girls (ages from 9 months to 13 years) to the Mid-America Museum. My part would be a stop at Sunrise Motorsports in Searcy. Running too late on the way down to stop and passed back by at 5:59 PM and they were locking the doors. I think I got the wrong end of the stick! Probably a good thing I didn't get to stop... my neighbor came and showed off his new Africa Twin the night before. I had the new bike fever pretty bad.

I know this is late notice. I'm not doing anything tomorrow. Called DaveO, he's not around. EasyEd-you are welcome if you want to wander around.
    Leaving Hot Springs by 8am.

All: Staying in NLR til the end of the month for work. The only rental bikes available are a couple of cruisers (Indians) from the local MSF joint. Next weekend (14, 15, and 16th, Easter weekend) a buddy and I are gonna roll around AR and see whats fun. Any input? Sorry, no knobbys, so the Adv will have to be comprised of asphalt....okay, mostly asphalt.:D
    Thnx

I rode about 200 miles on my pig today. Cossatot Falls and back with some side trips and nav errors. Cossatot has water and is beautiful. Same for all the creeks. Grass is green, widlflowers are blooming, temp is perfect.
I hope some of you get out and enjoy yourselves Sunday before the rain hits.

I am planning a two-three day ride in the Kirby area and would appreciate some advice. I forget the name but I will be staying at a Marina on Lake Greeson that is used by some to headquarter for group rides. I will be using my plated XR400 to explore the area and could use some suggestions for loops. I DO NOT use GPS, anything I can find on maps is great. Forest, county roads etc is great. I have ridden enduro and HS at Bear Creek so single track is good also. And info on what maps to use and where they can be found would be nice also. Thanks.

Well as you know there are some good trails there at Kirby Landing both the bear creek trail and then the single track from the Harescrambles. Outside of that your a little bit in no mans land. It's a good 20 miles of hwy to get into the Ouchita National Forest with the Albert pike recreation area being closest. It's a good haul over to the mena from there about 50 miles of forest road where you could ride parts of wolfpen gap. Once in that area you have "blue hole" and few other neat places you could explore. Just expect to cover 175 miles or so if you base out of Kirby Landing. Hope you have a seat concepts seat on that XR!

Your staying at Kirby Landing it sounds like. Go into the marina and ask Clay for a map of the trails.

Thanks to both of you! I thought there might be more open land, dirt roads etc to explore there. maybe I better look into the Mena area. Have some locals going there this weekend, I'll ask them to bring back some info.

There are endless dirt roads north and north east of Kirby in the national forest and around lake Ouchita. Just be prepared for that 20 mile slab ride to get started and finish. There are no other official trails in this part of the forest.

[IMG][IMG]Ive been in NLR for training for tge last two months w/o my bike. I've spent my weekends cruising the area in rental cars and rental bikes. A few weeks ago I was out west of LR, on the south side of a beautiful lake.

Took a nice gravel road to an overlook at the Hickory Nut Vista where the road ended (for my rental car). My GPS said KEEP GOING (see pic). Wished I'd have had a bike. Looked fun.

I am starting to think about how to get to SLAP (and what to ride once there) from Little Rock.

Anybody interested in a medium bike ride up to Byrd's on Friday, cutting through the Ouachitas and over Magazine?
