I'm in Decatur - feel free to get in touch if you get this far north. I'm afraid there's not much street riding in my area that is very interesting. You have to ride a couple of hours from here to get to the better roads. But we could still get together and find someplace to go.

I decided to cage it to Decatur tomorrow, Thursday...... but if you and your wife have a day off next week let me know...I would be happy to meet you somewhere for a days ride.......

I rode with a rider yesterday but his max distance was 20 miles and we did 55 miles around Benton and Dalghren......oops said he didn't like to do long rides......hummmmmm....I can't think of many places you could travel in SI within a 20 mile radius of any specific town unless you are just doing dirt track riding.....
PM me if you are interested
    Thanks- Sanpau (Kawi ER6N- 650)

Wife works regular hours all week, I'm off all week, every week.:clap I don't work anymore, my job now is wearing out motorcycle tires. Leaving tomorrow to wear-out tires till Monday, Tuesday I ride with some other old guys to lunch. Maybe Wed. or Thu. we can hook up, my wife will be off Thu. (July4th) she could ride that day. Then Fri.'s my B-day, going to the Cardinal game with the son. No plans for that weekend ....yet.

Love me some giant city lodge, that was my pre/post hike meal when I did 50-some miles on the river to river trail last October. Pretty great beer selection if I remember correctly, too.

I am a bit new to this but hope I can join in the fun.

On a whim headed off to the Current River south of Salem Mo on the fourth. Spent a day checking out springs and back roads. Returned Saturday pretty much worn out.

Pic is the ferry from Illinois to St Genevieve Mo. Illinois side is pretty much in the middle of no where. That's the part I liked.

We have the maps for the River to River Trail. Never got around to hiking it.

The last I'd heard was that the Modoc/Ste Gen ferry wasn't running since the owner retired or some such thing. Is it running again? It's a favorite run for many, especially the run to Crown Valley microbrewery outside Ste Gen.

Last year when it was down because of low water the pilot retired and the deck hand got a different job. But after a long search they have found new workers that will work 361 days a year 12 hours a day and it's running again.:clap

I recommend it. Just bring plenty of water to guard against the water sources on the trail being dry or you'll be filtering scummy pond water with a deer skeleton in it because the closest water was 7 miles away... Not that I know anything about that.

In preparation for the Fox Valley Offroad Overnighter this weekend, I decided I needed better storage on the bike.

    Behold, my abomination:

These things are huge, came off an early 80's honda cruiser that a friend bought. He didn't want them, so for the low, low price of free these got slapped on my bike. Only needed to bend the mounts to clear the oil tank and exhaust and add some spacers. Gotta add some quick disconnects for the turn signals (had to extend the wiring) so that I can just pop the whole thing off (4 bolts) when I hit the trail.

It ain't pretty but dogonnit it's functional hah.

    Gamequeazy,

I like your XT600, Yamaha got it right back then. I would like to see the 650 Tenere in the states eventually. I did notice from your picture the deadly kick starter. Hopefully it has electric start. My XT500 blasted my calf, "kicking back", many times even using the decompression lever. It was worse in hot weather...

Rode the modoc ferry the past weekend. Lot of dried mud on roads leading to and from.

    Thanks!

The tenere's sure are neat. I like the look of the 80s 600 teneres a lot, even have one as my desktop wallpaper hah.

This old girl is kickstart only. I do wish for an e-start after dumping and flooding it, but otherwise it has yet to do any serious harm kicking back. 1st or 2nd kick, every time!

Unfortunately, my job situation has caused me to temporarily relocate to Peoria Heights, IL from the So Cal coast... :cry

Anyway, I'm here now for the time being and am always looking for rides to go on. Are there any central Illinois weekend rides, meet-ups, coffee/tea rides, lunch rides, rides for the ride of it... whatever! I currently have a 650 dual sport, an 1100 street bike, and a 1200 dual sport. I have most rides covered, provided it is not gnarly off-road stuff. I'm more of a fire road / groomed jeep trail rider when it comes to off-road.

Hope to see you adv'rs out there riding... :wings
