my buddy registered his CRF450 there. got a kit that had the lights, signals, horn and switches. fairly easy to install. then got an inspection from a dealer (where jowannab worked at the time). they checked the lights and DOT tires. that was about it iirc. pretty easy process.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard of guys doing this but I've also heard of guys getting denied their plates at the DMV after installing a dual sport kit. Seems like it just depends on luck of the draw who you get at the DMV the day you show up.

I've also read that you have to fill out a DOR form 551 and take it to the mo state hwy patrol to be inspected. If it passes then send your paper work to Jeff City and you will receive a street legal MC title.

Seems it is easier if you aren't the first owner. Certificate of Origin states "off road only" or some such wording. Once it is titled that does not appear on the title. As long as you don't have knobbies on it at the time of inspection you will be OK at most inspection stations.

Hello folks, I am New to MO. Living in Warrensburg now, with my CRF250X (Street plated from New York) and my KTM 950 Adventure. Just looking for places to ride, woods, trails, etc and folks who know the region and area's to ride. Bikes are currently in storage here until I find a house with a garage to move into. (Homeless at the moment)

Wow, I go off the web for a few weeks to deal with work, life, sold house in four days, etc etc, start getting phone calls and pm's from people wondering if I had really fouled up and still alive. All is good just been busy as hell.

Outlaw Justice welcome to the 'burg, you got here just before the madness of the start of college. As Coy (jowannab) mentioned I do have a bad and painful habit of crashing so at the young age of 55 I have retired from off road racing - no more hare scrambles and such for me. However I am now fully healed and have been back out riding my KTM 690 again. Send me a PM, e-mail wolvesmo@iland.net, or call 660.four four one 6001 some time. Maybe meet for lunch?? Unfortunately, you got here during my mid-shift rotation at work, which limits my riding to Saturdays, but it is what it is.

ADVrider is a great resource and here are some other local sources:

https://rideforum.net/ is a KC based site for adv and dual sport riders

https://www.facebook.com/groups/KCRiders/ is a Missouri / Kansas based group on FB for adv and dual sport riders

I've been tossing around the idea of selling off some of my bikes and getting something newer. Nothing wrong with the bikes I currently have but I rode my buddy's 1190r and keep thinking about it.

If I can work up the courage to put my stable up for sale, what would be a worthy machine. I ride everything from single track to gravel to commuting to and from work. I generally gravitate more towards off-road than on. I currently have:

    2006 Ktm 450xc
    2006 Ktm 950 Adventure
    2009 Ktm 950 Super Enduro R

    I'm interested in:

    2017+ Ktm 1090 Adventure R
    2015+ Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally
    2017+ Husky 701 enduro
    2018+ AJP PR7
    07-13 Ktm 990 Adventure
    Future 790/890 Ktm adv/SE stuff

So my question and the reason I posted here is does anyone around Missouri have any of these bikes and would be willing to let me test ride them before I decide to sell my bikes?

I had a 690 and loved riding it but didn't care much for the engine vibes. I hear the new Husky 701 is night and day difference but I'd like to ride it.

The AJP PR7 isn't here in the states yet but being a single I'd like to ride a Husky TE630 which is the same engine that is now re-branded as a SWM and being used as the power plant for the PR7 and SWM Superdual.

I liked the 1190 but I think the 1090r would be better for what I want to do with it.

The Caponord is kinda the oddball but I've owned 2 Aprilia's in the past and have a soft spot for them. I think the Nord would be great for 2up with the wife, traveling and backroads and gravel.

So if anyone can help me find and get a test ride on these bikes, it would be greatly appreciated. My bikes are open to anyone willing to help. Thanks.

Finger Lakes is a fun place to ride as long as the weather has been dry there for a few days. Thanks for sharing the video.

    Mike,

if you do FB you might want to look into the SouthWest Missouri Adventure Riders group:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/1628874007397332/

There is also Skunkwerks Moto and Fabrication located in Springfield MO that might be able to help you out. I know it's about an hour from there to Joplin but they may know someone closer.
