It was great meeting you all the other night, Here is my trusty steed up on Black Crater Butte
Third Thursday meet-up at the Summit Saloon, downtown Bend, IN 2 DAYS (that would be the 17th). Starts about 6, and we're usually there for a while, eating the cheap happy hour food. Stacie, Tony, and I will be there for sure - probably hogging all the tables in front as usual.
If anyone wants to know about riding southern Canada, Baja, the Tour of Idaho, or the northern California Coast, we can share! We've been too busy riding to write reports this year. We're looking to get information on riding Baja on the little bikes; if you have any 411 on that, we'd love to hear it.
Hope to see you there! Everyone is welcome.
I actually have tonight off! I'll stop by after work!
Anyone available this Thursday for a meet up at the Summit??? (Dec 19)
I may or may not make it, depending on how busy the flower shop is, but Billy is getting cabin fever and would love to have a beer and talk bikes with all y'all. 6ish.
Sounds like fun, but I've got my office xmas party that night! Let me know if you move the date!
Great idea, but I won't be able to make it.
Didn't want to create a new thread for this so I'm wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a shop to get my tires mounted in Bend. I have no experience with any of them so... M-tech? Motoaspirations?
Moto Shop did mine for free since I bought from him.
Oh interesting, I have been there before a couple years ago but he referred me elsewhere to get work done, he wasn't doing service at that time or something? Oh well I will give him a call!
Chris Sanden's Motorsports on 2nd, past the UPS building (Tom Street's old place).
Or get some spoons and do it yourself ;-).

+1 on The Moto Shop. Brandon has great prices on tires and has a tire machine now for mounting. Last I checked he charges $12 a mount if you bring them in off the bike. He's moved in the last couple of years.

Any of you Bend riders know anything about a rider down out near Christmas Valley/China Hut on Saturday? Was riding out to Crack in the Ground, and had about 8 daul sports (lots of KTM's) and an ambulance come by making time.
On the way back out heading to Summer Lake, I saw all the riders and the ambulance and a couple other official looking vehicles as the Christmas Valley Airstrip looking like they were Med-vac'ng somebody out.
Yep, that was us. The rider in the front went through a barbed wire gate at speed, bending the support poles and snapping 3 of the 4 horizontal strands of wire. He did not see the gate.
He is ok. Broke four ribs, collar bone and punctured his lung sack. Having surgery this morning to plate his collar bone together. I fear he might be in the dog house for awhile; was supposed to fly out Monday to Hawaii with his family. :eek1
Amazingly no damage to the bike and we repaired the gate (and marked it with a can for the next guy).
The CV rescue crew did a great job. Transported him out 5 miles in the back of a suburban then 20 miles on the slab to the CV airport.
Kerry and Carmen at the Lakeside were nice enough to store his bike and extra gear for a few days. I picked it all up last night.
Sorry to hear about it, but good it's all going to be a happy ending.
Wish him a speedy recovery for us, any other help needed?
Appreciate the offer but he's on the mend now. Had surgery yesterday to plate his clavicle. Just needs time now...to heal the body...and to convince the wife to give him a green light to ride Baja in November! Thinking the former will be easier than the latter.
That's a big trauma on the trail, Greg.
Reminder: Ride with riders who have SKILLS.
Hi Steve...oh, he has skills. One of the better riders I've ridden with. Just one of those fluke things that happens on the trail.
Greg, I wasn't passing judgement on the rider's skills, just reminding all of us to ride with those who have good 'first responder' skills! (Or better; each of us should hone our first aid skills, to support each other.)
Kinda' like; don't worry whether your ride partners is willing to swim after his bike, ...but is he willing to swim after YOURS.
