I'm in whether we have a campfire or not. I've got an Esbit stove.

I showed a picture of the extreme wheelin' to Kimberly and asked her if she could climb it on the DR350, and she just says "sure". What a trooper.:D

She works in the school system, so the 3 day weekend is a huge plus.

Alright, it looks like the poll activity has died down, and the results are in. Aug and Sept are looking good, camping is the popular choice, and riding from backroads to trails. Oh, and scenery was the most popular thing to see, and for that, well, hell, that's easy, you can't turn around without seeing something great in the area, so we've got that base covered.

Now about dates, late Aug to early Sept is looking good. And Labor Day Weekend falls right in the midst of that. I'm torn, three day weekend is nice, but it will bring more crowds. Schools around here start pretty early, and that normally cuts the crowds significantly. Hmmm...

I think before we decide on the camping arrangements, we ought to know about how many people are joining in. If we're going to be using a campground, I'll be honest, I have no idea how their reservation set-up works. I'm sure I can figure it out, but we'll need to know just what we're reserving. If we're going dispersed, I know a couple of good spots. I imagine fire restrictions will be pretty severe either way.

As for the roads, I've got plenty of ideas. And if some of these skilled guys are going to be bring their awesome off road prowess to the party, all the better. I think we might be able to either split up, or do easy stuff the first day and hard stuff the next.

So, do I start an "official" thread with a poll about the dates and a sign up list, or do folks want to chime in here?

I think it would be best to avoid Labor Day Weekend...Just my 2 cents.

I think you can start it from here.

I agree to not do it during Labor Day. Careful on how late you are looking in Sept. also depending on elevation as that can be when snow starts.

Crap, labor weekend is just about the only weekend in the whole year that I already have plans for.

I was hoping for something sooner anyway...

Thanks for the feedback guys, looks like Labor Day isn't the best choice. Early Sept should be good and snow free in these parts, but weather is weather... Late Sept gets into hunting season in D7 as well. Sounds like we're looking towards August. After work I'll get a calendar and see what dates there are.

Turns out I have something going Labor Day as well, so another weekend would be better. I could do the 3rd or 4th weekend in August, or the first full weekend in September.

This sounds like a good plan.

If there is a fire ban at campgrounds we might as well do dispersed camping since schools are out august and there will be a lot of families that may see us as the Humungus from mad max not as friendly adventurers. Most campgrounds in the area pretty much have you in your neighbor's lap. But I do see the appeal of a fire if we could have one... and I guess I can speculate on how someone would appreciate a shower even if I can't fully relate.

Yeah, well, Shesaid said I had to go hunt the junebugs that are rumored to live in the basil. Not only were the reports of junebugs grossly exaggerated, but then were slugs trying to get into the strawberries! I tossed the one junebug I did find into a nearby black widow's web only to find myself watching nature's dumbest bug try to escape becoming prey to one of the shyest spiders. The ensuing battle was only slightly more interesting than watching the zucchini grow, though I do think it was slower...

But PCVance has a point. August it is, and those are the weekends. I don't think we need another poll, just post up a quick vote.

    2nd and 3rd

    9th and 10th

    16th and 17th

    23rd and 24th

I think it might be a good idea to post up who all will be coming, or maybe that will depend on dates. Meh, if you know you're in, let me know. Post it, PM me, whatever. Might want to mention what type of bike as well. I'm going to start editing the first post to include info, so everyone doesn't have to read through the entire thing looking for updates. I'll include a sign up list there and post names as I get them.

I can't do the 2nd and 3rd as Thomas the Train is coming for the little guy. DUH! :lol3

    Otherwise, I should be good.

In terms of bikes, if you guys really need/want me to bring the Jeep, I'll be on the little bike. If not, I'd probably rock the pig.
