I want one ... keep tellin myself one day. $3000 for a decent one...
Anyone interested in doing the Sheetiron 300 this year from Stonyford to Fort Bragg & back? Dates are May 19th & 20th with a $65 dollar entry fee..... Flyer . So far it looks like I am free that weekend (work & parenting).
The last couple of years this ride has gone right past my Dad's front door off of Flynn Creek rd in the town of Comptche (place to stay for free)The end of the ride on day 1 is only 20-30 miles away. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to stay at his place instead of camping or finding a motel/hotel.
Options include trucking to Stonyford, do the ride & truck home. Or........ride the whole damned thing from Fresno & take 4 days total with the sheetiron being the middle 2 days (my preference but always open to suggestions)........
Heads up. The BMW shop ride is cancelled for tomorrow due to rain.
Heya chip -
Thinking about putting together a guys and dolls dualsport run, something like bald mountain with an option to go to brewer lake if the lady folk are feeling confident. I would be trucking to the top, ideally in late June. That something you and K might be interested in? Caren is completely inexperienced - hoping to pick her up a dualport in the next two to three weeks something along these lines: http://merced.craigslist.org/mcy/2850627611.html if I can get them to lower their asking price a bit.
I will get her to practice a bit around the house and get her permit.
Anyone else interested? Will be really light dualsporting, very slow pace. Prolly have to ride the mrs machine for her through the rough stuff.
Me and Dodi would be in for that
well we've ridden brewer a few times. I'm not so sure that is a new rider friendly route. Pretty gnarly rock sections, especially all the way to the lake. i'm in though... for the chicas maybe something that still goes to a lake or river where we can have lunch, but more dirt road type of riding. gotta keep them wanting to ride.
And by then, I think we'll have a 3rd couple ready to rip, thanks to Mr. Button.
Sweet. Ya brewer is gnarly - but beautiful and I would just ride her bike over anything she felt iffy about... The ladies would like the view there. And if I remember most of the rocks you can ride around ... save a few. The intended is bald mountain, which I think is fairly newb freindly isn't it? We shall see... Gotta git her on the bike first
if it was me taking new riders especially women to bald mountain I would ride from the north and the parking lot for tamarack snow park.. it would be an easy ride.. still on the granite.. but flat and kind of level.. or up to mono hot springs or edison tent cabins for a night..
my wife can go were the boys go, so dont worry about her for Brewer type trails. She has done Shuteye and Bald a few times, 007 a couple of times.
Nice. e or k start?
e start. picked it up yesterday morning.
No Brewer for me!!! Hard on my fork ends and my shoulder!!
Congrats! Cool, lookin forward to some summer cruising with my gal... If my buddies and their gals can go too that is gonna be that much more fun!
Hahha... Wife is nervous now - getting performance anxiety. Q: Ben can she get one foot all the way down while in the saddle?
Got two of these to go look at in the next three weeks sometime:
They even got a little cult following and some people that make custom parts for em:
one foot or half of two
