Optopilot, good to hear from ya. I am now riding Japanese as well: DRZ400s. It's an '04 49-state model with under 1k miles, so have to get AZ plates (soon). Then we need to get together and ride. Something mellow. Healing up compression fractures T12 and L1, plus I'll be 50 next year so time to slow it down if you can handle riding with old-slow-guy. Take care.

Dave how are you doing? Good to see you poking your head up!

Another Steve sighting! Sorry I was playing clean house Sunday Steve. Good to hear family is doing well and that you continue to ride!

I followed a courageous new jeep owner and her husband driving up to Buck Rock this Saturday. I have to wash the Jeep tonight not because of the snow and mud but someone thought it was funny to egg it last night.

Tom something tells me I'll still have a very hard time keeping up with you no matter what your age.

    Some pics etc~

If the sound came through, that's not the sound Chip and K's Wrangler makes when it goes up hill. That's Soji in with me rooting them on...

Same here, Optopilot. Been a long time. Now your back, I gotta get down there and see you guys. Great times. And Tom, what the hell happened? Heal up fast man you're still a youngster (at least compared to me)-we got some ridin' to do! Here's one from awhile back:

Holy Crap! That's 2008 (April to be exact)-the Mojave ride. Damn that was fun.

Yeah, that was it. Hope to get some time to get down there after Thanksgiving weather permitting. I'd like to take a trip with as much dirt as possible from out your way and into the back way to San Diego sometime. Anyone know the routes or any interest, please let me know.

Yeah, good to get my head out! Work helps a lot, and breaking down as needed.

Thanks all for the thoughts and prayers and offers and such.

Hey Layne, why are there four wheels on that big boxy motorcycle? Great pics...

Those were great times guys! The beauty of Afton Canyon, the dunes, the full throttle runs, the food, most of all the fellowship! While I've been to the Mojave several time since, nothing compares to the "Preserve". This is why I ride a dual sport. Go anywhere do anything. Let's do it again!

Bob, I think I still have your insulated coffee mug. Tom those JAP bikes aren't so bad, are they? Remember I am still older than you.:evil Layne, are you on 2 wheels or 4?:huh Ramjet, I thought I was thinner back then.:rofl

Took a ride up to Perry's famous landmark yesterday.

    That is one overgrown trail.:eek1

This was my first time exploring around the Millwood OHV area. I didn't see much single track. Did find alot of trails that are quickly becoming single track due to the lack of maintenance.

The fall colors were nice and the soil still had nice moisture in it from the last storm.:clap

Did 147 miles testing my new gearing and fuel range. I think I may need a larger tank sooner than later.

who do we ask permission to maintain the trails up there? Is there an interest to donate limited resources in updating and maintaining the area in a planned grid?

It would be fun to have a trail sign up there: sponsored by Central Valley Dual Sport Adv or something.

That would be the person in charge of OHV TRAILS at the Sequoia NF Hume Lake District ranger station on hwy 180.
Chris Horgan from the Stewards of the Sequoias knows the ropes, l'll give him a call and pick his brain. Trail work party anyone? The Verplank revival....
