Hi All........I am new to this forum.
Long story short. I had a 30 year edition 1200GS. I went to Kyalami race track to do a track day with my track bike. KTM were there and offering demo rides on the 1190. I took a 3 lap ride. This was a Sunday. On Tuesday I was the owner of a new 1190 Adventure.
First the side stand mounting broke and replaced under warranty, no hassles. Now the centre stand has broken on the left hand side. I have spoken to KTM and this will be replaced under warranty as well.
I am very happy with the bike thus far. Considering my riding style, the KTM is actually lighter on fuel than my GS was.
The wife is of the opinion that the GS was more comfortable on the long rides and I have to agree with her. The hooligan in this bike is just so addictive, I absolutely Love it.
I have added a "big foot" on the side stand, a trax top box and removed the cat and added an aftermarket pipe. It now not only runs great (seen 275km/h) on the clock, but also sounds absolutely awesome.

Has anybody else had the broken main stand? I read something from an SA member regarding the air box. Anybody know of this?

    Cheers guys

My both stands are ok at the moment I didn't hear the middle stand broken before. I am glad you enjoying your bike.

Are side stands still bolted to the engine on the 1190? If so, make sure you buy a bracket that moves the mount off of the engine case.

Well, doing that kind of speed on the center stand, no wonder it broke :D

    Hi Douf,

Nope, don't know them, probably seen them but not met them. The side stand still utilises the engine case as a mount. Will check for an alternative when I get home. Thanks man.

There are 2 products available. Bailey Engineering and Consulting has a bolt-on bracket that gets the entire side-stand assembly off the engine. Contact williambailey70@yahoo.com. This will have an additional bracket available that allows it to work with the KTM accessory skid plate within a few weeks. Black Dog out of Idaho has a skid plate that has the side-stand mount integrated into it, getting it off the engine. Contact through www.blackdogcw.com/

to add to this i had a very odd thing happen today:
i just bought my 1190 adv last week

purchased and received the ktm skid plate today
went to install and step 1 is to remove the bolts on both sides of the bike just in front of the foot pegs. on the right side of bike there was NO bolt in bike so figured that saved me some time. when i went to install the new bolt as part of the ktm skid plate i realized the hole does not even have threads in it. pic here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gm7xj4efsx...201 copy.jpg

thoughts? anyone else check this location?

    thanks

It's a recorded problem...when last have you checked the service schedule, ask your dealer to pull it as it's open to owners.
