if you don't enjoy sand you may find it worth your time to go to enoree ohv same $5 for the day.
Call before you haul number for both places.

Yeah, wambaw is pretty much it. $5 per visit or a $50 season pass. No stickers, just the keeper side of the pay stub. The only closures are due to trail conditions (call before you haul 8035614025), open 24/7 otherwise.

Thanks for the replies - no stranger to sand coming from northwest florida.. I actually went out yesterday and it was pretty damn decent! Definitely a viable option when I need to get out an stretch the husky's legs. As far as deep sand goes, there's worse haha

Unfortunately looks like 2/3 of the north loop is closed due to trail conditions? It was flagged off at the short loop cutoff. South loop was nice, mostly lower wet area which provided much traction! Needs a pass with that sweco though, some of it is gettin whooped out. Met a guy Chip, good rider! Hard to keep up with that guy.

Also interesting the amount of atvs tear assing around the parking lot. Hopefully that's not a problem for the powers that be, that's the kinda shit that gets parks shut down..

Wambaw quad-ers put the "sand" in sandwich.

Quadtards... in this part of the Country, it's unusual if you DON'T see them ripping up a parking lot. Assholes, especially the ones emptying their yeti coolers full of beer cans into the woods.

Back to riding... I like Wambaw but I never found any sgl-track and what's with the north closure??? It's been forever, come on! Surprised nobody mentions Battery Park. It might be a 2 hr drive from Charleston and cost $20 but they have a nice track and a marked trail system. CAW has the hills and are working on dedicated sgl-track but they mostly cater to the 4-wheel crowd. If you venture into NC, goto Brown Mt.

The north intermediate and long have in fact been closed since the 22" of rain in Oct '15. CORRA has been trying to get the FS to allow repairs and follow-up regular groomings, but alas, they have other ideas. Namely, after being open for what, 40 years or so?, they determined that they needed to do a "study" on it so as to assure themselves that it should have been put there in the first place.
This nonsense is due to a change in management at the FS. New Forest Ranger and Recreation Specialist.
They promise it won't be too much longer. Don't hold your breath. (I sure as hell ain't.)

Would any of you guys like to meet up one Saturday or Sunday and spend the day doing a "scavenger hunt" in and around the FM National Forest? I have a list I made up of 60 or so "tags" that you would have to go look-for and and either take a picture of or answer a question about to score points. All for fun of course.
Anyone on a road-legal bike could play.

I'm really hoping to be out there this weekend, although my priority is to do some suspension testing (probably in Wambaw) before trying a hare scramble next month. Maybe I'll see you all out there.

Looking at the calender, it looks like Saturday, June 10th will be the next date that will work for me. How's that sound? You guys are going to be a big part of spreading the word on this, so I'll need to know who's interested before getting too excited about it.
I've done one of these in the past, and we had a good time with six or so bikes. But it would have been mo-better with a larger group.
So if we could round-up at least a dozen or so riders (more is OK too), I think we will have a great time of it.
And, I think that once we have a good idea of the size group we're going to have, we can decide where to meet up.
I assume that we could have folks show up who would want to avoid the gravel roads altogether, so I will need to make sure we have a bunch of paved-road tags as well.
So, I'll be in the wait-and-see mode watching the interest level here before deciding that it is worth doing.
    Looking forward to it!:clap

    It's on my calendar.

I'm heading out Sunday morning. Planning to do some FS roads, some of Wambaw, and maybe head up to Pineville MX Park (https://www.facebook.com/PinevilleMxPark/) if I'm feeling up to it. My next race has potential for some big air so I want to see how the new bike handles jumps. I'm also not very good at it lol.

Well apparently pineville isn't going to be open tomorrow because the owner "might have other plans". Must be nice...

Guess I'll be out in the forest.

Wambaw was very wet, almost too wet for the first bit of the north loop. It got better once I got out of the swampy area (isn't that all of SC???). Did some suspension testing.

    It appears my suspension works.

    Hey everyone!
It looks like we have a ways to go to get enough bikes to make this interesting.
    Ideas?

I'm still up to go out there that weekend.

On another note, I have these Heidenau K60s that came on the bike I recently purchased. Rode ~1800 highway miles home on them then took them off. They're too narrow to run on the wheels I would put DS tires on and I don't want to let them rot in the garage for the sake of "having an extra set". Looking for $50 total to make them disappear?
