Sorry, haven't logged on in a while. Unless something changes i'm probably out of commission on weekends through the end of the year. We've got two bathrooms that need finishing (electrical, sheetrock, mud, paint.....) before Christmas, and Saturday seems to be the only time I have to work on anything!

Looks like we are going to have good weather for our planned sat. ride. hope everyone will plan to come. I have a real nice route planned out with a lot of back-country roads with lots of nice scenery and some neat switchback sections. would like to git kickstands up about 10:00 if possible. I"ll be at the start about 9:30.

I'll be at the Starbucks on S. Tryon just south of 485 (8951 S. Tryon) from 9:20 to 9:40 before heading to the gas station in Lake Wylie - in case anyone is unsure of where we're meeting and wants to meet early.

I'm looking forward to the ride, Augie. Thanks again for setting it up.

The wife managed to find yet another Santa event to take the kids to so I'm out.
Normally I'd skip it but with the amount of travel I've been doing for work it wouldn't go over so well....
    Have fun!

Had an awesome ride today - thanks Augie. It was great to meet a couple of new folks as well! And I peeled off at just the right moment - got home at 3 on the dot.

Numa - be sure and post up plenty of pics and video (as long as you didn't catch me running wide in that one turn with the gravel scattered about). :D

On a semi-related note, does anyone else think it would be a good idea for me to create a little cheat-sheet of the names around here? I could put it on the first page with the meet-up reminder and quote it every once in a while. It would look something like this:

JoeyBones = Joe; JMforPres = Jon; Pieeye = Ken; Boike333 = Matt, etc etc.

Anybody like it? Anybody object? Stupid idea? Maybe I'm over-thinking this... I do that a lot.

Had a great time today, thanks for letting me tag along.

And yes, a cheat sheet sure would help me out. :lol3

The December 15 street bike ride featured some wonderful tarmac, but Larry decided he'd had enough of the pavement and wanted to experience a little dirt riding.

Be sure to watch it full screen in high def. More video from the ride will be available soon.

Hey guys.... Numa (BluRidgeRider) is having some internet difficulties and asked me to post up this note and pics for him... So, from BluRidgeRider:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>

Seven riders showed up for today’s street bike ride led by Augie. Riders met at the Marathon gas station on Rt 49 on the west side of Lake Wylie in South Carolina and departed at 10:00 AM to begin the ride.
The seven riders made appearances aboard seven different rides – shown here at Burnt Mill Campground (of Iron Butt fame). Hardware included one each of the following: Yamaha FZ1, BMW R1200GS Adventure, KTM 990 Adventure, Buell XB12X, Suzuki Marauder, BMW R1200RT and Suzuki V-Strom.

Lots of twisties as the route weaved back and forth across the North Carolina and South Carolina borders before turning northwest and heading up into the mountains near Lenoir and Morganton. Loose gravel in several of the turns up in the mountains provided opportunities for each rider to prove his mettle on two wheels while at speed.

Lunch was at Myra’s in Valdese. Pictured below at Myra’s, from left to right, are: Katoom119 (sorry, I didn’t catch your name), Jeff, Numa, Joe, Steve, Larry and ride leader Augie.

The ride started out with overcast skies and cold temperatures, but the skies turned blue and temperatures increased as the day progressed. It turned out to be very comfortable wearing full riding gear. Thank you Augie for picking a great route!

Hope to see everyone at Hawthorne’s on Dec. 20th.
