Sorry I couldn't make it tonight. I am heading to FL tomorrow in the cage for a friends bachelor party. Looks like I missed an awesome ride this past weekend.

I think I've gotten on ADV one other time this week, with how crazy busy I've been. Starting the new job has cut into a lot of my free time! :rofl

The machine shop took a little longer than I thought and got me back the forks yesterday. I'm hoping to get them back together early next week when I get back in town.

I finally broke down yesterday with missing all the nice riding weather on the BMW and rode the KDX200 75 miles roundtrip to work. Everyone there thought I was nuts. :lol3

Enjoyed seeing everyone. Good turn out, good food, good discussion.

Augie - my brake is still acting up but I'm going to dissasemble and find the issue.

Send me a bill for the WD-40 squirt. :deal

My honor to bring this message to you fine folks on my 1000th post.

I was so close to making it, but big cub scout camp out this weekend meant I had to spend some time packing up our camping gear. Maybe next month - looks like it was a good turnout.

OK. Here goes. I'll leave it here for a week in case anybody's interested and then it goes in FM...

2004 Yamaha TTR-125 with Baja Designs Dual Sport kit. Runs very well and had a recent carb clean, oil change, etc.

The headlight, taillight and turn signals work. The mirrors are included but are not on the bike in these pics. The horn doesn't work, the speedo is an electronic unit made for a bicycle and does not work - needs batteries I suspect. I don't know if the tires are street legal - they're pretty serious knobbies and for putting the bike on the street I guess it would depend on how well you knew the guy doing the inspection. So think of it as a dirt bike that could be put on the street with a little tinkering.

I have a clean North Carolina title in my name. $1,100 / cash talks.

I didn't get to do any interesting riding this weekend; spent most of it in my office. I did pick up a copy of the 2013 Cycle World Buyers Guide yesterday afternoon and spent a little quality time with it and a Reserva Real Toro last evening.

That brings to mind the follow scenario/question that I pose to each of you:

Your present motorcycles are gone. You are starting from scratch. A benefactor tells you to pick any five motorcycles -- from the 2013 current production offerings -- that will meet all of your riding needs. The benefactor will pay for all expenses related to these five motorcycles -- purchase cost, titles, tags, insurance, gas, ongoing maintenance, accessories, etc. -- and will provide you with a garage where you can store your new rides. What five current production 2013 motorcycles would you choose for your personal use?

My choices, in alphabetical order, would be as follows:

    * Beta EVO 4-Stroke 300 - have always thought it would be cool to have a trials bike for play in the rough stuff
    * BMW F800GT - with Givi PLX bags for sport touring
    * Yamaha Super Tenere - with Touratech aluminum bags is my choice (and Augie's) for a large adventure touring bike
    * Suzuki DR-Z400S - with Wolfman Expedition Dry Saddlebags is my dual sport bike pick
    * Triumph Thruxton - for playing around on twisty roads

Post up your choices. Who knows; your benefactor may be an AdvRider regular.

Hmmm... off the top of my head (since it ain't gonna happen... :D)

    1. Have to have the Tiger 800 XC, I love it.
    2. Street Triple, been lusting after this one forever.
    3. Husky TXC 310 R for the dirty stuff, then I won't be eating *everyone's* dust. :rofl
    4. That new Goldwing, not because it's me or anything but I need it to pull a trailer with the Husky on it. :evil
    5. Dunno... maybe a classic like a Bonneville or an oddball like a Guzzi... Can't think that far ahead.

Well, it took allot longer than I thought it would but they finally found my lost and missing motorcycle and I got to pick it up Saturday morning! :clap

Only put about 400 miles on it this weekend but I can safely say that it's all I'd hope it would be and more! Very happy camper so far!

One of these months I'm going to make it back to Hawthorns so just in case you don't reconize me I'll be on the new scooter.

    Some assembly required!

One Question: When they finally found your lost motorcycle, was my bar end weight in the crate?

    Very nice! Enjoy!

numa. if I was you I would call the colletsville and the mortimer observer and post a reeward for dat bar end!! it would pump a little cash into the local economy and give dem mountian dudes somethin to do. also flasher has a metal detector he'll probaly let you borrow if you want to go back and hunt it yourself. you could mount it off the right painner bracket and just ride along on the sholder real slow. :rofl
