I wasn't paying enough attention at fill up and the weight of the nozzle snapped it off :baldy

Question is whicj part do I need?
The fiche is not exactly clear. Is the lever (part that broke) attached to the TANK PLUG CPL. or the TANK INSERT? :scratch or do I need both parts?

You think the old lock can be put in the new cap?

I think they look cool, but do you ever worry about someone dinking with your fuel when the bike is parked out of your garage? Maybe I'm paranoid...

Yes, I think you're paranoid :norton

If they want to go to the trouble of siphoning 2 gallons of gas, they can have it. Seriously, this isn't the gas crisis of the 70's here.

Come to think of it, it would be nice to have a more positive latching cap as opposed to the oem part. It's bounced off a few times in whoops.
It bugs me a bit to have to pull the key out of the ignition to fuel up.

the new oem cap is $153, the aftermarket is $35! :hmmmmm

It is the complete cap, you will have to swap the tumbler so your key will fit..

Yep, and it cost around $280 depending on where you buy it.

Temp fix until I pony up for the oem part
Only downside is dropping the cap when fueling.

In your first picture there is an allen head screw under the cap in about the 7 o-clock position.
Remove it. Just in case you are not able to unlock the cap/broken tumbler/broke key/frozen etc.
You can just use an allen and remove the outside allen head screws and pull the cap to fill the tank.

    Update:
The aftermarket cap loosened up and flew away to be free on the freeway resulting in about and hour lost looking for it. :bluduh
A super cool dude loaned me his cap assembly on his 990 so I could ride the Reno200 (another story)

anywho, being the tight wad that I am I choose a fix with good 'ol JB weld.

I put a lot of the sweet gray goop on it so we'll see how she holds up.
seems pretty secure to me just have to be very careful locking it using the key. :1drink
