I am riding through Chelan on the 25th and would like to ride up past Echo Valley Ski Area, Cooper Gulch, Cooper Mt. Rd. and on to Black Canyon. Do any of you dry-siders know if this route is snow free. I'll be on a 950 with Scorpions and even a little snow is a nightmare. Thanks in advance.

Do you know the elevations? I was at 5500+' yesterday and today, and it's OK that far. Up at 6000', the north faces are covered enough to block a M/C. I didn't do any of the high spots you mentioned, but I did several around there.

OK, so that was a couple of months ago. I scooted thru there (Hwy 97) from Kelowna, BC down to San Fran and back. Roads were fine all along with snow in the ditches and along some of the shaded areas of the mountain... except the return trip when I was heading up the first range (north past Maryhill) and discovered black ice. Sun was just coming up over top of the trees and showed me some nice sparklies on the road. Lasted maybe 2 miles than back to dry. I should think it would be nice at this time of the year, but I hesitate simply because ya never know!

Not much help, but ... ?

I talked to a friend over there and he said Cooper Mt and Black Canyon clear. I found this time of year, one possible problem is at a north facing cut about a mile southeast of the Gold Creek intersection. If so, just go down the Black Canyon Rd. Try to get all the way to South Navarre.
