    yeah grinding in shorts....:huh

I am always the early bird no matter what day it is. Just an internal alarm clock. It's a muggy, wet day here in Maple Ridge but this is to be expected. I think the weather shows some nice days coming up after tomorrow. Got to bed around midnight and now I sit here just waiting to get going. Amazing how all this prep and time that has gone into working with Triumph and Western has flown by now and today is the day we get to go have fun.

One thing for sure it has been interesting not totally controlling our own destiny. Both Cheryl and I are sort of type A personalities and we have had to learn patience and understanding. After our little visit to the dealer it will be all us, the bikes and whatever else comes our way.

I think this trip on board the Tigers is going to be a comfy ride to be honest. These bikes sure love the road and if we balanced our gear well, I imagine no matter where we take them it will still be a comfy ADV trip.

So, last post until we hit Revelstoke, BC and hoping there is WIFI. :D

not to bog up the thread, but as a sport bike rider, I am wondering what sort of tank range these things have. I have ridden a little bit of everything, but only owned sport bikes and am seriously looking to get the tiger 800 as my first adventure bike, as the 690 adventure is hard to come by :evil

May the road rise up to meet your tires.
May the wind be always at your back.
    May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your screens and until you post again,
may God hold you in the gentle curve of the saddle.

    Ride well.

What a day! Before we left this morning, our neighbour Nico came by to say good luck. Nico has Autism and is wearing one of our ACT t-shirts. ACT kindly made business cards, decals and T-shirts for our Adventure to Alaska. Way to go ACT!

Here is Nico at about 0800 this morning

After this nice visit Cheryl and I headed off in the rain to Western Powersports for our send off. Thanks Marq!

Got a few photos taken, did a little interview and even our friends Brad & Teri stopped by as well as Robert from MTR SPORTS. The ACT gang were there too! Thanks guys!

We both began our 45 day trip in the pouring rain and headed northeast to Revelstoke. The weather was awful until we came around a bend on Rt 5 in Merrit, BC and low and behold the rain stopped, the sun was peeking through the clouds and it went from 15 degrees Celsius to over 20. Sunglasses came out, layers came off and we were both very content.

The bikes? Well, so far they are just awesome and although we have only ridden on the pavement, they are very very sweet bikes. Gas mileage not so good but to be expected since they are brand new.

On the way out today we stopped by Cheryl's mother and step father's house in Hope. Rain and more rain but had a great lunch and short visit. Before we got to Hope we were heading down Highway 1, also known as the Trans Canada Highway (Goes from Eastern Canada to West) we found the road closed by Chilliwack. We saw RCMP vehicles racing to what appeared to be no where. Later we found out there was a huge mud slide and possible a car trapped as well as some Train cars too. have to look on the news for an update. We are lucky to have missed it because it must have just happened as we tried to take the highway.

This is what we got to see when it cleared up heading towards the Shuswap/Interior of BC

This is typical Leslie trying to do things that make no sense. In this case trying to get her camera over her helmet. NOT!

So here we are at a KOA for WIFI camping out and I am wondering where my last batch of pics went???? Hmmmmmmmmmm...in any case, mosquitoes are out, Cheryl has a fire going and I must run. Tomorrow we head for Hinton, Alberta. Hope you SPOT is working and you all can track us! Later from Revelstoke, BC.

Setting up camp and dinner! YUM!

Looking forward to seeing your adventure and living vicariously through you. :D Ride safe and have lots of fun and take lots of pics for us poor slobs who can only sit at the computer and watch. :D And good luck with the cause. I don't know anyone with autism, but I know there are many out there who need the help that ACT offers. Take care!

Nothing changes for me Leslie while on the road. I wake up way too early. 0430. The wifi here sux and i found my "lost" pics from yesterday. I'm being tormented by a group of chipmunks right now. I'm like I have NO food! Lol

It is sprinkling out and I want to wake Cheryl to pack up but she would kill me.

Our local paper did a great story on our trip. Will post the link when I get internet again. Really looking forward to Day 2 but we are heading into rain in Alberta. I checked out our Spotwalla page and that's pretty cool seeing our route come up as we are riding. Our Blog got a record 2000 hits yesterday. Maybe cause Triumph posted an announcement on their Facebook page.

We are going to do our best to post often with many pics. Have to work out a routine with setting up camp, cooking food and posting as well as just having "we" time. So, until next hotspot I will say cheers for now.

Too funny about the time of the Nico picture. Just came through Rogers Pass and now in Golden,BC. We live in a very beautiful part of the world I must say. No wifi tonight we think, so hopefully in Dawson Creek we will have a big update with pics.
